Little DITL! Nursing edition! #nurseonduty #nursingstudentlife #fyp #nursevlog
Hey everyone! You might have seen my quick DITL sneak peek, but I wanted to dive a little deeper into what a 'real' day as a nurse looks like for me, especially when I'm striving for some "stillness" amidst the chaos. It’s not always glamorous, but it’s authentic, and I hope sharing my routine helps shed some light on how we juggle it all. My day often kicks off before the sun is fully up, heading straight to WORK. Those hospital shifts are demanding, both physically and mentally. From patient assessments and medication rounds to managing emergencies and supporting families, every moment is packed. There's a constant buzz, and sometimes it feels like stillness is a faraway dream. But even in the busiest moments, I try to find small pockets of calm – a quiet moment with a patient, a quick deep breath in the hallway. It’s about recognizing the humanity in every interaction and finding purpose in the demanding schedule. The 'realness' of nursing definitely hits you hard here, but it also shows the incredible resilience of healthcare professionals. Once my shift is done, the day isn't over! I often have a quick TARGET RUN to tackle. It's amazing how many errands pile up. I've learned to be super efficient, making lists and sticking to them to get in and out. It’s part of integrating self-care and personal life into my busy schedule, preventing things from piling up and causing more stress. This might seem mundane, but it’s a crucial part of keeping my life together, and definitely adds to the 'realness' of my non-stop schedule. Then, it’s often OFF TO PILATES! This is non-negotiable for me. After hours on my feet, Pilates helps me stretch, strengthen, and most importantly, clear my head. It’s my dedicated time to fully disconnect from the hospital environment and reconnect with my body. This is where I truly find my 'stillness'. It’s not just physical exercise; it’s a mental reset that allows me to process the day and prepare for what’s next. I genuinely believe that prioritizing these moments of self-care makes me a better nurse and a happier person. Evenings are precious. I love coming home and MADE DINNER W/ MY HUSBAND. Cooking together, even something simple, is a wonderful way to decompress and reconnect. It’s a moment of shared joy and a reminder that there’s life beyond the hospital walls. These domestic moments are the anchor of my 'realness', grounding me after a high-intensity day. We chat about our days, laugh, and just enjoy being present with each other. Finally, it’s time to GOT READY FOR BED. This routine is key for ensuring I get quality sleep. A warm shower, a little skincare, and perhaps reading a chapter of a book help signal to my brain that it's time to wind down. I try to avoid screens an hour before bed. This intentional routine helps bring a sense of 'stillness' to the end of my day, allowing me to truly rest and recharge for whatever tomorrow brings. Finding this balance between demanding work and personal well-being is an ongoing journey. It’s about embracing the 'realness' of life, both the highs and the lows, and actively seeking out those moments of 'stillness' that nourish your soul. I hope this deeper dive into my DITL gives you a more comprehensive and relatable understanding of a nurse's life!
