Wedding Dress Thrifted 👌🏿✨
Ever drop in to the thrift store just to see what you can see. Well I love looking at the dresses and found this wedding dress I couldn't pass on. It's so beautiful I bought it without a try on.
Tags still on with the invisible straps and everything. Originally it was a $50 dollar dress.
Wearing it I realize that I'll need to cut back on sugary snacks 😂 I'm hoping to go down by at least 50lbs.
For now please be kind 🥺
What jewelry do you think would pair well ? Diamond or pearls ?

Finding a wedding dress for your big day can be one of the most exciting, yet daunting, parts of wedding planning. While many dream of designer gowns, the reality for many brides, myself included, is often a more budget-conscious approach. That's where thrifting comes in! My recent score of a stunning white off-the-shoulder wedding dress with elegant puffy sleeves and a beautiful long train for just $14.99 at Savers is proof that your dream dress doesn't have to break the bank. It even had original tags on, showing its initial $50 price tag – what a steal! Thrifting a wedding dress isn't just about saving money; it's about finding a unique piece with a story, being sustainable, and embracing a more personal approach to your wedding. If you're considering this path, here are a few tips I've learned from my own experience and what to look for: Where to Hunt for Your Dream Gown: Charity Shops & Thrift Stores: Places like Savers, Goodwill, and local charity boutiques can be treasure troves. Visit regularly, as stock changes daily. Look for dedicated formal wear sections. You never know when a gem like my off-the-shoulder beauty will appear! Consignment Stores: These often carry higher-end pre-owned items, including wedding dresses, sometimes even samples or dresses worn once. Online Marketplaces: While not traditional thrifting, sites like Poshmark, Stillwhite, or Facebook Marketplace offer a huge selection of pre-owned gowns. What to Look For When Thrifting: Condition is Key: Check for stains, tears, or damage. A few loose beads are fixable, but major rips might be costly to repair. The good news is, a dress with tags still on, like mine, is often in pristine condition! Fabric & Construction: Feel the fabric. Is it good quality? Look at the seams and zipper. A well-made dress will alter better. My off-the-shoulder style felt so luxurious despite the price. Alteration Potential: Most thrifted dresses will need some alterations. Consider if the dress can be easily taken in or let out, or if sleeves can be added/removed. A skilled seamstress can work wonders to make a thrifted find fit like it was custom-made. The "Feeling": Just like finding 'the one' in a traditional boutique, you'll know when a thrifted dress feels right. For me, it was that gorgeous white off-the-shoulder design and the elegant long train – I just had to have it, even without trying it on in the store! Styling Your Thrifted Treasure: Once you have your dress, the fun of styling begins! You asked about jewelry for my off-the-shoulder gown. For a dress like mine, with its beautiful neckline and puffy sleeves, a delicate sparkling necklace could highlight the décolletage without overpowering the design. Pearls offer a classic, timeless elegance, while diamonds (whether real or faux) add a touch of modern sparkle. Ultimately, it comes down to your personal style and the overall vibe you want for your wedding day. Veil & Headpiece: Consider a simple veil to let the dress shine, or a more elaborate one if the dress is minimalist. Shoes: Comfort is paramount, but a beautiful pair of heels or flats can complete the look. Accessories: Don't forget a clutch, a delicate bracelet, or even a statement ring to complement your thrifted find. This entire journey, from finding that incredible $14.99 dress at Savers to imagining how I'll style it, is truly an adventure. It’s also inspiring me on a personal wellness journey, aiming to feel my absolute best on my special day. It’s about embracing the process, being resourceful, and sharing these unfiltered moments with all of you. What are your best thrifted wedding finds or styling tips?
