As a SAHM, every day feels like a marathon, especially when you throw in Vlogmas and home renovations! I wanted to share a few things I've learned that help me (sometimes!) keep my head above water during these chaotic times. First off, managing home construction with little ones around is no joke. My biggest tip? Have a designated "safe zone" for the kids – a room that's mess-free and off-limits to tools and dust. It’s a lifesaver for those moments when electricians are everywhere or plumbers are tearing things apart. Also, don't be afraid to utilize nap times or even early bedtimes for the heavier, messier tasks, like assembling a new closet system. And seriously, snack stations are your best friend; easy access prevents meltdowns when you're explaining for the hundredth time why we can't play with the power tools! Then there's the whole "playing hooky" situation. Trust me, mama guilt is real, but sometimes, a mental health day for everyone is exactly what's needed. We were all exhausted, and honestly, letting my five-year-old skip school for a day of impromptu fun at home or running errands together can create some really sweet memories. It doesn't have to be a grand adventure; sometimes just a trip to Lowe's can feel like an outing! The key is to make it feel special and break from the routine, even if it's just watching the construction workers (from a safe distance, of course!). Speaking of errands, I've found that turning them into a game or a "mission" for the kids helps immensely. When we’re dropping the dog off at the groomer or picking up supplies, I give my kids little tasks, like finding a specific color item or counting how many trucks we see. It keeps them engaged and makes the trip feel less like a chore. And always, always pack snacks and drinks, no matter how short you think the outing will be! And for all my fellow Vlogmas participants, hats off to you! It's tough to keep up. I confess, I totally fell asleep editing Day 9's vlog and almost missed posting Day 10! My best advice? Don't strive for perfection. Some days it's just a quick recap, and that's okay. The real moments, the unscripted chaos, the little victories like finally getting the electricity hooked up or cleaning up the house after a long day – those are the memories people want to see. It's about sharing your authentic SAHM journey. At the end of a long day, whether it's dealing with construction, playing hooky, or just navigating the usual mom duties, remember you're doing an amazing job. We're all in this together, embracing the beautiful, messy reality of mom life.
