Unemployment 🙃

I work at a teeth whitening studio and last week I saw on the schedule that the company added another whitening specialist along with myself and my manager. I texted him about it and he said he didn’t know who this other person was because he wasn’t made aware of adding someone.

THIS MORNING I recieved a text from my manager saying that he was going to call me. He said he received a call from HR that this new whitening specialist is moving from Dallas to Austin and is transferring to our location. They want her to work Monday-Friday afternoon shift (my shift) because she has “more experience” (a year). He told me that he told HR that I had already worked at this location 2 years ago but moved to San Antonio to focus on school and now I am back to work full time. HR told him to tell me that I can work Saturdays afternoon shift and that’s it.

So now.. I am currently working Saturdays only and I can’t even go in today because this new girl is taking over starting today. I haven’t really processed yet because ever since the call, Ive beem looking for jobs actively. My partner wants me to just take the day to let things sink in but I can’t. I currently don’t have a job and I don’t know what to do.

... Read moreJob loss is a challenging experience that impacts not only your finances but also your mental health. It's essential to prioritize self-care during this time. Create a daily routine that includes job searching, networking, and skill development. Utilize online job boards and reach out to former colleagues for leads. Consider updating your resume and LinkedIn profile to enhance visibility. Networking can often lead to job opportunities that aren’t publicly advertised. Additionally, exploring temporary or part-time work can help bridge the gap while you search for your ideal position. Being proactive in your job search is crucial. Set specific goals for each day, whether it’s applying to a certain number of jobs, attending virtual job fairs, or reaching out to professionals in your field. Join online communities related to your industry or interests to find support and encouragement. Resources like career counseling services, workshops, and resume reviews can also offer valuable assistance. Lastly, remember that unemployment is not a reflection of your abilities. Many face similar challenges, and it's important to remain resilient. Seek support from friends and family, and don’t hesitate to reach out for professional guidance if needed. Allow yourself time to grieve the loss, but keep a forward-looking mindset focused on the opportunities that await.

I’m a nurse and I had to reinstate my license and I couldn’t work without pay. I had just purchased a home and instead of panicking, I took it as a needed vacation. I took the time to trust God and I knew that God didn’t get me this far to only just get this far. I enjoyed being in gratitude and unpacked my new home.
