I've had a similar experience at Walmart where one customer insisted on using the express checkout with an overflowing cart, clearly exceeding the 20-item limit. This not only slowed down the line but also caused visible frustration among other shoppers. What stood out was how the customer refused to cooperate, insisting she was entitled to do as she pleased because she was paying for her items. This attitude disrupted the flow and forced others in line to wait much longer, highlighting the importance of respecting store rules designed to benefit everyone. In such situations, I’ve found that staying calm and letting store employees handle the issue is the best approach. Trying to confront or count items yourself can lead to unnecessary conflict. Instead, alerting a manager can help resolve the problem efficiently. This experience also made me appreciate the role of courteous customers who abide by checkout guidelines, understanding that such rules exist to keep lines moving and prevent chaos. It’s a reminder that shopping etiquette plays a significant role in everyone's comfort and efficiency. Overall, dealing with a 'Karen in the wild'—a term popularized to describe challenging shoppers—requires patience and a focus on maintaining a respectful environment. Remembering that store staff are there to assist and enforce policies can reduce stress and help keep your shopping experience smooth and pleasant.

Ring up 20 items and stop. Have security escort her out. She's not an exception to the rule. Being rude and ignorant doesn't make you exempt. Be respectful.
