What is your weird habit as an author?

5/2 Edited to

... Read moreAs someone deeply involved in writing, I've noticed that many authors develop their own unique and sometimes quirky habits that help them stay creative and productive. For instance, some authors like to write in absolute silence, using noise-canceling headphones to block out distractions. Others prefer specific rituals, such as drinking a particular tea or coffee before starting their writing session, which signals their brain that it’s time to focus. I personally have a habit of rearranging my workspace multiple times in a day. Changing my environment helps me get new perspectives on the story I'm working on and keeps me mentally engaged. Interestingly, some authors also use unconventional tools like colored pens or typewriters to stimulate creativity. Another common but strange habit is talking out loud to characters or ideas. It sounds odd at first, but vocalizing thoughts can help clarify complex plot points and deepen character development. Engaging with fellow writers sharing their weird habits can be both entertaining and enlightening. It’s a reminder that creativity often thrives on individuality and embracing what makes us unique. Whether it’s writing at odd hours, having a lucky object by the desk, or adopting superstitions around completing chapters, these habits contribute to the richness of the writing process.

This tiny habit surprised me💧🌱
I started drinking chia water a few weeks ago and honestly… the texture is wild. It’s kind of jelly-like and honestly a little weird at first. I kept thinking, am I actually going to like this? But somehow, it grew on me. It’s become this tiny part of my mornings that just feels… different. Wo

A hand holds a stack of books, with text overlayed reading "WEIRD BOOKS for WEIRD GIRLS (horror edition)". Decorative cutouts of stars, a deer, and a robed figure are also present against a light background.
A hand holds the book "Motherthing" by Ainslie Hogarth. Text describes the plot as a woman's psychotic break after her abusive MIL's passing, noting it's unsettling but captivating.
A hand holds the book "The Unworthy" by Agustina Bazterrica. Text describes a woman recording experiences in a pseudo-convent to recall her life before environmental destruction, with a note about its March 2025 release.

How to become an Author
Here are my tips and tricks for you guys: 1. Just start writing. Don’t focus on writing a full on book the first time you sit down. I started by writing about my own life. I took memories or things I imagined and wrote them down. From that the ideas started flooding in. 2. When you have a
