Food below $20 in Tanjong Pagar! 🇸🇬

Salt & Soul

Restaurant setting, affordable prices that you can find in most cafes in Singapore. I consider this restaurant to be affordable as most of their dishes are priced under $20! What caught our eyes was their presentation, clean with bright fresh colours.

What we tried:

• Chips & Dip $14

The dip was really delicious, it was a french onion dip with caviar on top. Chips were crispy and light, a great start to the meal! Price wise, a bit pricey for just chips and a dip.

• Prawn Toast $14

This dish must eat when it’s hot. Bread had a nice crust and the tomato salsa on top add a light and refreshing taste to the dish.

• Savoury Chicken Charcoal Beignet $11

This was a two-bites wonder. You can think of it like a ‘pao’. Really delicious, cute-looking starter!

• Carbonara $15

Surprisingly, the cream was not heavy. Every mouth did not give me a ‘jelat’ experience. Pancetta & Parmesan gave a nice salty touch to the dish.

• Aglio Olio $13

This was kind of bland and dry for me. Was expecting it to have a kick of spiciness but I think it was too mild. Needs to have more spiciness and kick!

• Barramundi au Beurre Blanc $22

The fish was filleted too thinly. Did not have much meat on it and was kinda dry. When I cut into it, did not easily flake or tear away easily from the knife. The sauce was delicious though.

• Iced Passionfruit Earl Grey Tea $6

Really nice refreshing drink. Balanced of sweet and sour flavours.

A restaurant that I will definitely come back again! Really nice place to chill and have a meet with friends. They also used a lot of natural light to brighten up the place so when you enter after a long day at work, it makes you feel good and have positive vibes!

... Read moreIf you’re hunting for affordable yet quality food options in the bustling CBD area, Salt & Soul in Tanjong Pagar is a solid choice. Beyond the individual dishes I tried, one thing I appreciated was the warm, naturally lit environment that provides a relaxing ambience after a busy workday. For those interested in drinks, the menu offers a decent selection including wines like Alamos Malbec and some refreshing beer options such as Heineken Silver and Erdinger, which pair well with the food. Though the food mostly caters to a casual palette, the French onion dip with caviar is a delightful touch that elevates the humble chips and dip starter. In terms of reservations, Salt & Soul tends to get busy during lunch hours on weekdays, so I’d recommend booking ahead especially if you’re aiming for a meet-up or group gathering. The location at Frasers Tower is convenient, easily accessible by MRT, making it a popular choice for office workers looking for a budget-friendly lunch spot without compromising on taste or ambiance. If you’re looking to extend your food adventure around Tanjong Pagar, nearby eateries also offer affordable set lunches under $20, encouraging exploration of this vibrant food district. Salt & Soul’s menu is ideal for those who want variety without overspending, with options ranging from light bites like the savory chicken charcoal beignet to more filling plates like the carbonara. Overall, Salt & Soul blends good food, affordable pricing, and a positive vibe setting, making it a worthwhile visit whether you’re meeting colleagues, catching up with friends, or just craving tasty yet budget-friendly meals in the CBD area.
