Our New (Old) 1916 Tudor
Built in 1916, she's seen some things. Built by one of (if not the first female physician in Western NC, this house has stood strong through World Wars, depressions, floods and hurricanes through the past century.
There are still piles of coal in the basement beside the original coal furnace.
The roof (which deserves its own post), is the original clay Ludowici tile placed in 1916, made in the Ohio factory that still produces tiles today.
There are layers of wallpaper and paint over just about every square inch of wall (and most hardware).
I haven't been great at sharing the happenings over the past 2 months. With a move, full-time jobs and the house a complete construction zone, my documenting has taken a back seat. But in the weeks to come I hope to share what has been going on behind the scenes.
