locked out? read this first 🔐

there have been a few times i’ve locked myself out of my apartment and i know i definitely panicked the first time and couldn’t process what to do next 😅

i remember considering trying to get in through my window but of course, my window was locked from the inside so i had to come up with a new plan. i retraced my steps of everywhere i had been, checked my car and anywhere i walked outside trying to find where i might have left my keys 🤔

eventually, i realized i wasn’t going to find it, so i contacted the property manager and i was able to go to the front office and have them issue me a new key. 🔑

i was so lucky to live in an apartment complex where they could help me out, but i know a lot of times when we get locked out, that’s not always an option! however, it’s important to remain calm, retrace your steps, and contact the appropriate people to help you out 🗝️

have you ever locked yourself out?

... Read moreExperiencing a lockout can be incredibly stressful, but remaining calm is key. Here are steps to consider: first, retrace your steps meticulously; check areas where you might have misplaced your keys. If you have a roommate or family member nearby, don't hesitate to call them for assistance. If you're renting, your landlord or property manager is usually your next best contact for help opening the door or getting a replacement key. If all else fails, calling a locksmith may be necessary. Prevention is crucial for avoiding future lockouts. Keeping a spare key in a secure, trusted place can be invaluable. Consider storing it in your purse, wallet, or even under a mat, as long as it’s hidden well. Another modern solution is to attach an AirTag to your keys for easy tracking if they go missing. Finally, using a distinct lanyard or keychain can also help you keep track of your keys better and reduce the chance of losing them in the first place.
