yes, you can mix wood tones 🪵
when first getting an apartment, i had furniture and items that i acquired that weren’t all from a “matching set”. however, i didn’t want to just buy new furniture and throw away what i had if it was still in good condition (plus furniture is expensive!) so i decided to give it a try and see how it would look all together 👀
at first i was unsure what to think, in my bare apartment, with only a few pieces of furniture, it felt like it wasn’t going to work. however, it wasn’t until i started decorating around the wood tones, that i started seeing it all come together! 🙌🏼🤩
it’s typically safe to either stick with all shades of cool tones OR warm, but i was pleasantly surprised with how the contrast of my warm toned coffee table and cool toned tv stand worked together! 🩷
overall, i’m happy i chose to use the items i already owned and it ended up working out! 😌

Mixing wood tones in home decor can be a fun yet challenging endeavor. It's essential to create balance by focusing on undertones—whether warm or cool. Start by choosing a dominant wood tone that you want to highlight in your space. Incorporate different textures throughout your design, using rugs, blankets, or curtains to tie the various wood tones together. For instance, if you have a warm-toned coffee table, it can harmonize beautifully with cooler-toned elements like a TV stand or cabinetry, enhancing overall aesthetic appeal. An excellent strategy is to limit your colors to 2-3 wood tones in each room, ensuring cohesiveness. Don't shy away from contrast, as the interplay between light and dark woods can elevate your decor. Taking the time to experiment with different textures and tones can lead to stunning and unique results in your home design!

Honestly, this just made my chaotic furniture situation feel intentional. Mixing wood tones is the kind of organized chaos I vibe with.
