things to trash: kitchen edition 👩🏻‍🍳

when was the last time you’ve decluttered or got rid of broken/damaged items in your kitchen?

i always think about it but sometimes i put it off because i feel like i’ll need certain items at a later time and sometimes struggling with parting with things 😅

however, as i went through my kitchen looking at a variety of items, i found tupperware with no matching lids, a broken pot, and don’t even get me started on the junk drawer 🤣😭

some more things that you can look for when decluttering your kitchen is:

- expired/spoiled food in your fridge 🍕

- old cutting boards 🔪

- old appliances - consider donating these 😊

A common issue many people face is holding onto kitchen items out of the fear they might need them later. However, clutter can quickly accumulate, leading to frustration and wasted time. One of the first things to look for when decluttering is mismatched or stained tupperware. These containers are notorious for losing their lids or becoming discolored over time, making them less hygienic and difficult to store. Discard any tupperware that doesn't have a matching lid or that shows signs of staining or damage. Broken pots and pans should also be tossed as they can affect cooking quality and safety. Old cutting boards, especially those that are heavily scratched or cracked, can harbor bacteria and should be replaced. Expired or spoiled food is another critical area to address. Regularly checking your fridge and pantry for outdated items prevents waste and keeps your kitchen hygienic. Consider donating old but functional appliances to reduce waste and help others. Additional kitchen decluttering tips include organizing your junk drawer by discarding unused utensils and tools, and labeling containers for better visibility. Decluttering not only frees up physical space but also mental space, improving your overall kitchen workflow. By routinely removing mismatched tupperware, broken pots, expired food, old cutting boards, and unused appliances, you can maintain a clean, safe, and pleasant kitchen environment that encourages healthy cooking habits and stress-free living.
