Hygiene Tips Your Mom Never Told You 🧼🧼
Most of these I had to find out on my own just through life! Some of these topics can feel uncomfy to talk about (especially with your parents) but who else will you learn it from?! We have to de-stigmatize stuff like this because these conversations are really important for young girls and there’s a lot of mininformation out there. There’s nothing to be ashamed of, our bodies are natural!
I hope that some of these can be helpful for you and I’m happy to answer any questions in the comments or even make a post diving deeper into one of the topics!

In addition to the hygiene tips shared, it’s important to understand why certain practices matter so much for overall health and comfort. For example, exfoliating your whole body, including often-missed areas like behind your ears and armpits, helps remove dead skin cells and prevent clogged pores, which can reduce odor and irritation. Avoiding loofahs, which harbor bacteria and mold, and switching to washable cloths or silicone brushes means you're less likely to introduce germs. Shaving techniques are another key factor: exfoliating before shaving, using shaving oil instead of regular moisturizers, and choosing a sharp, rust-free razor can greatly minimize razor burn and skin damage. Applying natural oils, like coconut or baby oil, afterward keeps your skin smooth—especially in sensitive areas—while avoiding harsh lotions prevents irritation. When it comes to intimate care, sticking to water and gentle cleaning for the vulva is the safest approach to maintain the natural balance and avoid infections. Wearing breathable cotton underwear and changing out of wet swimsuits quickly are simple steps that protect against bacterial and yeast infections. Also, staying hydrated and maintaining good partner hygiene can help prevent unpleasant odors and infections. Hair care is often overlooked but washing less frequently with the right products and protecting your strands at night by using gentle hairstyles or silk accessories supports hair health and growth. Similarly, prioritizing skin care routines with hydrating ingredients and applying sunscreen daily ensures your skin stays vibrant and protected. Oral hygiene completes the picture: using an electric toothbrush, flossing daily, and employing a tongue scraper can keep your breath fresh and gums healthy. I also found choosing an alcohol-free mouthwash and visiting the dentist regularly key to maintaining an appealing and healthy smile. Taking care of your body this thoroughly not only improves hygiene but boosts self-confidence, making you feel great inside and out.

For oral care, if you have a dry mouth use hydration drops in your drinks. Dry mouth leads to cavities. Also instead of just sugar free gum and mints, try them with xylitol. If you’re prone to cavities, ask your dentist to prescribe a specialized toothpaste or use a toothpaste and mouthwash with xylitol.
