OMG, is this real life?!?! You guys, I'm still pinching myself! As many of you know from my recent announcement, my book 'If You See Me' (IYSM) has officially been NOW OPTIONED FOR FILM! I'm Audra McElyea, and this journey has been absolutely surreal. It feels like just yesterday I was pouring my heart out onto the pages, and now, the possibility of seeing my characters and story come alive on the big screen is just... mind-blowing. I've been incredibly touched by all the support from the #booktok and #bookstagram communities – your enthusiasm means the world and definitely plays a part in these dream-come-true moments. Now, you might be wondering, what exactly does 'optioned for film' mean? It's a huge step! Essentially, a production company has purchased the rights to develop my book into a movie or TV series. This gives them a specific period to work on a script, secure funding, and attach talent. It's not a guarantee that a movie will be made tomorrow, but it's a massive vote of confidence in the story and a significant step towards seeing it on screen. The next stage involves scriptwriting and further development, and I'm so excited to be part of the creative conversations. I’ve been so thrilled to share this news, especially after Announcing it on the news with @livingetn, which was an incredible experience. Seeing the excitement from everyone, both online and off, has fueled me even more. I'm so grateful for every single one of you who has read IYSM, shared it with friends, or simply rooted for this wild ride. Your engagement on TikTok and other platforms truly helps authors get noticed. This whole experience has made me reflect on the power of stories, and how they can find new life in different mediums. Perhaps IYSM even fits into what some are calling the 'BOOKS IN THEIR VILLAIN ERA' – challenging traditional narratives and making a bold statement.
