🧘🏻‍♀️Seated Spinal Twist:

• Position: Sit on the floor with your legs extended in front of you.

• Movement: Bend your right knee and place your right foot outside of your left thigh. Place your right hand behind you for support. Bring your left elbow outside of your right knee to help twist your torso to the right.

• Movement: Place your hands on the mat beside your waist, press down into your palms, and straighten your arms. Lift your chest and thighs off the floor, only the tops of your feet and your hands should touch the mat.

... Read moreHey everyone! I wanted to share my absolute favorite post-workout stretches that have genuinely transformed my recovery routine. I used to skip stretching, but once I started incorporating these, I noticed a huge difference in how my body felt – less soreness, more mobility, and even better sleep! It's not just about flexibility; it's about helping those hard-worked muscles recover and preventing future aches. First up, let's talk about the Supine Spinal Twist. This one is a game-changer for my back muscles and glutes. I love how it gently unwinds tension, especially after a tough leg or core day. I truly feel it relieving pain and stiffness in my lower back, which is a common complaint after intense sessions. When I perform this, I make sure to breathe deeply into the twist, allowing my body to relax into the stretch rather than forcing it. It’s such a calming way to cool down. Next, the Bridge Pose has become a staple for me. It's fantastic for improving core stability and I can really feel it targeting my lower back, providing much-needed relief. I try to really press my feet into the floor and lift my hips as high as comfortably possible, imagining a straight line from my knees to my shoulders. I've noticed this pose also helps open up my hips, which can get tight from sitting or certain exercises. It's a subtle but powerful stretch! Then there's the Seated Spinal Twist. This stretch aids in spinal mobility, which is so crucial for overall movement and preventing stiffness. What’s more, I've heard (and felt!) that it can even help with digestion, which is an unexpected bonus after a heavy meal or a really intense workout. I focus on lengthening my spine before twisting, making sure not to round my back. It feels incredible to gently wring out any tension in my torso. Finally, the Upward Facing Dog is a fantastic way to open up my entire front body. This pose not only strengthens the spine, arms, and wrists, but it also gives a deep stretch to the chest, shoulders, and abdominal muscles. After all the crunching and pushing, it’s wonderful to extend and open. I make sure my shoulders are relaxed and away from my ears, and I really push through my hands to lift my chest. It feels like such a rejuvenating stretch! I usually hold each of these stretches for at least 30 seconds, sometimes even a minute, really focusing on my breath. Consistency is key, and incorporating these into my post-workout stretching calm routine has made a world of difference. Don't rush them; let your body sink into each position. Your muscles will thank you, and you'll feel more refreshed and ready for your next session. Try them out and let me know how you feel!
