Things I do for Candle Spellwork 🕯️
I do a lot of little habits and things that I find help me when doing spellwork, especially candle rituals! 🕯️
🕯️Small fine herbs and stones I usually keep contained somehow be it a small dish under the candle stand, or in the actual holder like you see pictured!
••Herbs are prone to catch fire and if that’s what you’re going for, please remember to be safe and practice fire safety!
•• I thrift my candle holders. Most are originally for large tapered candles, however I use smaller ones. The reason why is because wax does not spill out or over, and burns down to completion! (Light the bottom, let the wax fall into where candle is held, then place firmly to stay out through entire ritual)
🕯️Larger herbs, flowers and stones I spread around the candle, and around the entire workspace! I let my intuition guide me and try my best not to limit myself as to what I ‘should’ and ‘shouldn’t’ do.
••Witchcraft and spellwork has guidelines which act as safety rails. There are things you SHOULD do, (like protecting yourself when doing any spell work) and there are things you SHOULDN’T do (like calling forth evils spirits into your home because honestly that’s not only a headache, but you probably don’t know what you’re doing and you could get psychosis; please be safe) But with anything, use your own discernment, research as much as you can and trust yourself.
🕯️I always light a protective white candle for myself, and I light a white candle to represent Spirit. This is because I not only honor myself but Spirit as well. No, this isn’t necessary but my spiritual roots tell me otherwise.
🕯️Cleansing my workspace is a crucial step as I do not do spellwork at my altar, and my workspace changes depending on what spell I am doing and where I am at (indoors vs outdoors.) I always cleanse my space with incense, my own energy and then create a protective shield. My sound bowl is also a tool I use to reinforce the protective shield I put in place.
••Using sound frequently helps me to refocus my intent; candle rituals can last awhile!
••I keep incense burning through the duration of the candle!
••A lot of practitioners have a dedicated space and put in place wards and large shields that keep their spaces cleansed and energized; everyone is different!

I wanted to share as I’m a solitary witch and have been practicing for just over 15 years (I don’t know many other pagans personally and I want to be able to talk with others 🫶🏻)
Everyone has their own way of doing things, and be no means am I saying you HAVE to do anything I share. 🩶

Candle spellwork is a deeply personal practice that often requires a blend of intuition, safety, and respect for the spiritual realm. As you embark on your journey, consider starting with the right ingredients. Utilizing small fine herbs, which can be safely contained in a small dish beneath your candle, helps keep your focus and intentions clear. Choosing candle holders wisely, such as thrifted options that accommodate smaller candles, minimizes wax spillage and ensures the candle burns completely, thus preserving the integrity of your ritual. A critical step in any spellwork is cleansing your workspace. This helps maintain a focused energy conducive to magic. Regularly using incense, your own energy, or sound tools like bowls can enhance your protective shields. Establishing a ritual of lighting a protective white candle for yourself and another to honor Spirit can create a stronger connection and sense of protection. Remember that witchcraft is all about personal growth and understanding. While guidelines exist, trust in your intuition to lead you to the right practices. Research is your ally – delve into the depths of candle magic, and allow yourself to explore different methods, ensuring a safe and fulfilling experience in your sacred rituals.
