IS ACOTAR WORTH GIVING ANOTHER CHANCE?

This is gonna make some girlies mad but I tried to read ACOTAR the first book and tbh I kind of hated it. A friend told me I had a lot of opinions about a book for having not liked it but I read through about half of this book and I really didn’t care for it.

My reasons:

☁️ Feyre really gave me the pick me girl MC of the 2010s teen novel vibes. The im not femme but my sisters who are horrible and cruel and I have provide for everyone cause I’m so cool and not femme with my bow and arrow type thing. It was kinda giving me the ick.

☁️ Tamlin kinda sucks ass and is SO not romantic band idk what the fresh hell she’s doing being so into him? The only character I liked in the first book truthfully was Lucien.

☁️ The spicy post fire festival scene was like rapey as fuck and she was into it?? What even was that. I understand it was supposed to be some hot animalistic kink moment but Tamlin was being so rapey like what the hell??

☁️I also just don’t care for Feyre as a character and I want to know if she is of the Sansa Stark flavor of female characters where she’s kind of annoying and insufferable at first and then gets better as the series progresses cause rn in the first book her and Tamlin are kinda the worst together. He’s def worse but she’s also not that great herself to be fully honest.

Is this series worth another chance? I’m not at ALL an anti smut book I love spicy books and I do actually like fantasy even though I feel constantly disappointed by how straight washed a lot of it feels cause I just want a little queer fantasy moment once in a while HOWEVER. I’m curious from fans is the first book in the series your least favorite?? Does it get better cause rn y’all I do NOT get the hype at all. I wanted to like it I really did but I just didn’t.

... Read moreThe ACOTAR series, penned by Sarah J. Maas, has garnered a massive following, yet opinions on the first book often vary. Many readers express mixed feelings about Feyre as a protagonist, often viewing her as a representation of the 'pick me' trope common in 2010s teen novels. This concern is amplified by the dynamics with Tamlin, which some interpret as problematic, particularly during crucial scenes that may provoke discomfort due to their implications. Fans of the series frequently report that subsequent installments improve overall character development and narrative depth. The question remains: does the series find its stride in later books? Engaging with the broader book community, particularly on platforms like BookTok, reveals that many find the later books more rewarding. Readers who value complex characters and intricate plots may indeed find sustenance as the story progresses. The growing interest in diverse representation in fantasy literature also highlights why some are looking for greater inclusivity in narratives. The yearning for queer moments in these fantasy tales has never been more pronounced, prompting a reassessment of works like ACOTAR. As discussions continue, readers are encouraged to share their thoughts—does the ACOTAR saga live up to its hype as the story unfolds? Your opinions matter in shaping the viewpoint surrounding this popular series.

The first book is slow - push through because the second book will blow you away! And the rest of the series is just freaking amazing.
