จากประสบการณ์การเรียนและสอนภาษาอังกฤษมา ผมพบว่าหลายคนยังสับสนระหว่างการใช้ Present Perfect กับ Past Simple เพราะทั้งสองโครงสร้างมักเกี่ยวกับเหตุการณ์ในอดีต แต่มีรายละเอียดที่ต่างกันมาก Present Perfect ใช้เมื่อต้องการบอกเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นในอดีตแต่มีผลหรือความสัมพันธ์กับปัจจุบัน เช่น "I have lost my wallet" หมายถึงกระเป๋าสตางค์หายและยังหาไม่เจอในตอนนี้ ส่วน Past Simple จะบอกเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นและจบสิ้นไปแล้ว อย่างเช่น "I ate breakfast at 7 a.m." ซึ่งหมายความว่ากินข้าวเช้าไปแล้วตอนเจ็ดโมงเช้าและตอนนี้ไม่ได้กินอยู่ ในชีวิตประจำวันผมพบว่าการใช้ Present Perfect เหมาะมากสำหรับพูดถึงประสบการณ์ เช่น "I have visited Chiang Mai" หรือพูดถึงสถานการณ์ที่เปลี่ยนแปลง เช่น "She has moved to a new house." ส่วน Past Simple จะเหมาะกับการบรรยายเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นเมื่อวานนี้ หรือตอนนั้นตอนนั้น เช่น "He watched a movie last night." สำหรับผู้ที่ไม่มีพื้นฐาน ผมแนะนำให้ฝึกฟังและพูดซ้ำในสถานการณ์จริง เช่น ลองเล่าเรื่องราวในอดีตโดยเพิ่มเวลาหรือไม่มีเวลาก็ได้ เช่น ฝึกพูดว่า "I have learnt English for three years" กับ "I learnt English when I was in high school." การเข้าใจโครงสร้างและต่อยอดด้วยคำศัพท์จากชีวิตประจำวัน เช่น การพูดถึงงาน งานอดิเรก หรือกิจกรรมที่ทำ จะช่วยให้ใช้ Present Perfect และ Past Simple ได้อย่างคล่องแคล่วและเป็นธรรมชาติ โดยไม่จำเป็นต้องท่องแกรมม่าหรือกฎยากๆ ซึ่งจะช่วยลดความเครียดและเพิ่มความมั่นใจในการสื่อสารอย่างมาก
