A CALL FOR Justice with MERCY

In reflecting on the call for justice with mercy, it’s clear that accountability in courtrooms plays an essential role in fostering trust among the public. From my own observations and discussions with legal professionals, transparency is not just a procedural formality but a safeguard that upholds the integrity of the judicial process. Recording systems, when implemented thoughtfully, serve multiple purposes: they protect innocent parties, help prevent misconduct, and reinforce professionalism without undermining respect for court officials. Much like the accountability measures expected of law enforcement, judges and other courtroom authorities benefit from structured transparency that encourages fairness. However, achieving the right balance is key. Too little transparency can breed suspicion and doubt about the legitimacy of the verdicts, while excessive exposure might compromise privacy or disrupt courtroom decorum. Therefore, measures should focus on preserving the truth and protecting all participants, rather than fostering mistrust or fear of authority. From a personal standpoint, I have seen how technological tools, including audio and video recording, can improve the accuracy of courtroom records and provide valuable evidence in appeals or reviews. This ultimately strengthens the justice system, promotes public confidence, and ensures that justice is not only done but is also perceived to be done. Encouraging wisdom and responsibility in the use of these tools creates a more balanced and effective approach to justice—one that truly embodies mercy through accountability.
