God has shed His grace on me, and freed me from marijuana and tobacco. However, I am depressed, deprived of motivation, and have trouble sleeping and focusing, and my brain is fried. That's what the Bible means by You reap what you sow (Galatians 6). This chart above is an example of how someone can do a drug, then end up smoking it until the day they die. Their depression is made worse when they quit, so they go back. Or worse, the effects don't get it anymore, so they move on to something harder. When I first quit there was a sort of darkness that came over my life for the first couple of months. That's probably what causes most people to go back. It's also how I know that it was God who freed me from drugs. If it wasn't Him, I would've went back by now. Each day it's difficult not to go back. Sin has consequences. It will mess you up. The longer you mess with it, the harder it is to quit. A drug addiction is the best example for sin. I smoked marijuana about four years, and tobacco two or three. Off and on. But the way my brain feels fried it feels like much longer. Plus I hardly remember those four years. Quitting is possible. Difficult, but possible. But it would have been better if addiction never occurred.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
