Wishing I was back in Santorini🥹🤍🇬🇷
I solo traveled to Santorini June 2024, one day after my 27th birthday. It was unforgettable. I really felt like I processed my 26th year and all the lessons it brought me. I will never forget this.🤍

My recent solo trip to Santorini was more than just a vacation; it was a profound journey of self-discovery, especially coming right after my 27th birthday. I was 'Mentally I'm here' the moment I stepped off the plane, utterly captivated by the iconic white-washed villages and the endless blue of the Aegean Sea. If you're a solo female traveler contemplating a trip to Greece, particularly Santorini, let me tell you, it’s an experience that will stay with you forever. One of my primary concerns, which I know many solo female travelers share, was safety. I’m incredibly happy to report that Santorini felt exceptionally safe during my entire stay. The locals were remarkably friendly and always willing to offer help or directions. I never once felt uneasy, even when I was out exploring alone in the evenings. Of course, it’s always wise to be aware of your surroundings, but overall, it’s a very welcoming and secure destination for women traveling solo. Navigating the island might seem daunting at first, but I found getting around surprisingly easy. The local bus system is quite efficient and budget-friendly, connecting all the major towns like Fira, Oia, and Perissa. Taxis are also readily available, but for day-to-day exploration, the buses are a great option. For those thinking about a Santorini one-day itinerary, I’d highly recommend starting your morning in Fira, wandering through its charming labyrinthine streets and soaking in the breathtaking caldera views. After lunch, hop on a bus to Oia. Watching the sunset there is an absolute must-do and truly one of Santorini's top attractions; it's a magical experience that words can barely describe. Beyond the classic views, consider a boat ride around the caldera. It offers a completely different perspective of the island and its dramatic volcanic landscape – an unforgettable adventure! While I focused more on the scenery and cultural immersion, I did manage to squeeze in a bit of shopping in Fira, finding some beautiful handmade jewelry and local crafts that make perfect souvenirs. This trip truly allowed me to process my 26th year and all its lessons. There’s something incredibly liberating about exploring a beautiful island entirely on your own terms, making every decision for yourself. Don't hesitate to dine alone; many restaurants offer stunning caldera views, making for a peaceful and reflective meal. My biggest piece of advice for solo travelers to Greece? Embrace the spontaneity, engage with the local culture, and simply soak in every single breathtaking moment. It's more than just a destination; it's an empowering journey that enriches you long after you've returned home.
