WALMART HAS WHOLE BLUE CRABS NOW?!! #seafood #crab
You guys, I was absolutely blown away when I stumbled upon whole blue crabs at my local Walmart! I always thought I'd have to trek to a specialty seafood market for something like this, but nope, Walmart is seriously stepping up its game. If you're on the hunt for them, be sure to check both the frozen seafood aisle and sometimes even the fresh meat/seafood counter. Availability can vary by store, but it's definitely worth a look. The ones I found were frozen, but they looked incredibly fresh once thawed and cooked up beautifully. When buying frozen, always check for minimal ice crystals – that's usually a good sign they haven't been refrozen multiple times. And let's talk about the price! This is where Walmart really shines. Getting whole blue crabs at such an affordable price makes planning a big seafood boil so much more budget-friendly. It's a total game-changer for anyone who loves a good crab feast without breaking the bank. Now, for the best part: using these beauties for a seafood boil! Walmart literally has everything you need for a fantastic boil. Once you've got your blue crabs, swing by the produce section for corn on the cob, red potatoes, and fresh lemons. Don't forget some flavorful smoked sausage, and of course, all your seasoning essentials. I always grab a big container of Old Bay, but they often have convenient seafood boil seasoning packets too. I like to amp it up with extra garlic powder, onion powder, and a dash of cayenne for a kick. For cooking, I use my biggest stockpot. Fill it with water, add all your seasonings, lemon halves, and maybe an onion or two. Add the potatoes first since they take the longest, then the corn, sausage, and finally, your blue crabs. Be careful not to overcook them – once they turn that vibrant reddish-orange, they're usually ready. Serve immediately with plenty of melted butter, extra lemons, and a roll of paper towels! It's such a fun, hands-on meal that tastes like you spent a fortune, but you didn't. Seriously, don't sleep on Walmart for your next seafood adventure!
