$40 Chinatown Food Review 🍜🔥

🥇 Takoyaki Balls — 14/10

* Always a top-tier choice.

* Different places make them slightly different, but they’re always good.

* As soon as I saw them, I had to get them.

* Would recommend every single time.

🍢 Meat Skewers — 5/10

* Tried:

* Pig Intestine

* Beef Heel Muscle

* Tender Chili Beef

* Just okay.

* Only $1.99 each, so hard to complain too much.

* Great budget option paired with the peanut butter noodles.

🥜 Peanut Butter Noodles

* Only $3.

* Good budget food.

* A little plain by themselves.

* Could use sriracha or sweet chili sauce.

* Best when paired with seasoned meat.

🥟 Salted Egg Yolk Bun — 14/10

* My favorite thing I tried.

* Tied with the takoyaki for first place.

* Tastes like a custard pie.

* Slightly salty, slightly sweet.

* Absolutely amazing.

🍍 Pineapple Pork Bun — 4/10

* Everybody online hyped this up.

* I’m sorry, but it’s mid.

* Looks way better than it tastes.

🍰 Ube Cheesecake — 8/10

* More cake than cheesecake.

* One of the moistest cakes you’ll ever eat.

* Could use a little more dessert punch.

* Still very good.

💭 Final Thoughts

If I was on a budget, I’d grab:

* Takoyaki Balls

* Salted Egg Yolk Bun

And call it a day.

Now y’all tell me…

Was all this food worth $40? 🤔

Food Price Breakdown

* Takoyaki Balls — $7.99

* Peanut Butter Noodles — $3.00

... Read moreWhen you're exploring Chinatown on a budget, it's amazing how far $40 can actually go if you know where to look and what to try. From my own experience, takoyaki balls are definitely a must-have—crispy on the outside and tender inside, they bring a delicious burst of flavor every time. Pairing them with something like peanut butter noodles adds a nice balance; the noodles might be a bit plain on their own, but add some sriracha or chili sauce and they become a tasty, affordable side. I also found that the salted egg yolk bun is a real standout, with a creamy custard-like filling that’s both slightly sweet and savory, making it a perfect snack or dessert in Chinatown. On the other hand, some popular items like the pineapple pork bun might not live up to the hype, so it's good to approach those with an open mind. The meat skewers, while inexpensive and a great budget option, can be hit or miss depending on your taste for unique cuts like pig intestine or beef heel muscle. One tip I’ve learned is to balance your choices between high-impact items and budget fillers like skewers or noodles, this way you experience a variety without overspending. Also, desserts like ube cheesecake add a nice finishing touch, though some versions may lean more toward cake than cheesecake, the moistness and subtle sweetness are rewarding. In summary, if you're looking to enjoy flavorful, authentic eats without breaking the bank in Chinatown, focusing on signature items like takoyaki balls and salted egg yolk buns can make your $40 food crawl both satisfying and memorable. Remember to experiment with sauces and share dishes with friends to taste more options. This kind of food adventure not only satisfies your hunger but also uncovers the rich culinary culture hidden within Chinatown’s vibrant streets.

I'm from New York. 30 minutes out of New York City. I go where New Yorkers go when they get rich Rockland county. but I do take the train to go to the city and I've been doing full cross since I was 14. I've been to other places doing food crawls but New York is the best. and Chinatown is the best well one of the best. it's hard to choose in New York because we have everything here
