Dreams of Crimson Plague
Hello everyone! 👋 this is my first post on here!
So far, I really like this app. It's a lot "slower" than Tik Tok, and I don't feel the pressure as much when it comes to posting 😅 I'm not that great at editing videos, so I like that pictures are popular here.
This is my debut novel, Dreams of Crimson Plague. It's a dark fantasy with horror elements that takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States. The FMC is Azita Ashkan, who seeks to close a portal that was opened 20 years ago, unleashing nightmarish creatures from another realm.
I'm a self-published author, and I homeschool my daughter, writing whenever I can squeeze in some time. I have 3 crazy cats, and my husband works from home, so I guess you could say our house is a circus 😅
I'm hoping to connect with other bookish people out there! I would like to post on here beyond just being an author, as this seems like a welcoming place for ideas and conversations 😊
So many of you have been curious about 'Dreams of Crimson Plague,' and I'm so excited to share more about the world I've poured my heart into! When I first envisioned this story, I knew I wanted to create something truly immersive. The 'Crimson Plague' isn't just a disease; it's a cataclysmic event that tore apart the fabric of reality, leaving behind a scarred, post-apocalyptic United States. Imagine a world where the familiar landmarks are twisted into haunting ruins, and every shadow might hide something truly terrifying. It’s a setting that allows for both the epic scope of dark fantasy and the visceral fear of horror, blending together to create a unique reading experience. Twenty years before our story begins, a mysterious portal ripped open, unleashing creatures from another realm. These aren't your typical monsters; they're manifestations of fear and despair, twisted nightmares given flesh. My protagonist, Azita Ashkan, carries the weight of this legacy. She's not just fighting for survival; she's on a desperate quest to seal that portal, hoping to reclaim a semblance of peace for humanity. Her journey is fraught with peril, forcing her to confront not only external threats but also her own inner demons. The struggle between dark and light, sanity and madness, is a core theme that I explored deeply. The cover, with its depiction of a face split into dark and light halves with contrasting red and golden eyes, really captures this duality. For those who love dark fantasy, 'Dreams of Crimson Plague' delivers with its morally gray characters, magic systems that come with a heavy cost, and a world where hope is a fragile commodity. The horror elements aren't just jump scares; they seep into the atmosphere, creating a persistent sense of unease. It's about the psychological toll of living in a world constantly on the brink, where humanity's resilience is tested at every turn. I wanted to craft a story that stays with you long after you've turned the final page, making you question what truly defines a monster. As a self-published author, sharing this debut novel with you all feels incredibly vulnerable and exciting. It's a story I worked on between homeschooling my daughter and navigating our wonderfully chaotic home life with three crazy cats! Every spare moment was dedicated to bringing Azita's world to life. I truly believe that readers who enjoy intricate world-building, strong female protagonists, and stories that aren't afraid to explore the darker side of humanity will find a home in 'Dreams of Crimson Plague.' It’s more than just a book; it’s a journey into a world where courage is essential, and every decision has monumental consequences. I'm so keen to hear what you think once you dive in! Have you read much dark fantasy or post-apocalyptic horror? What elements do you look for in these genres? Connecting with fellow book lovers is one of the best parts of this journey, and I can't wait to discuss the mysteries and challenges Azita faces. This isn't just 'the plague of fantasies'; it's a vivid, terrifying reality waiting to be explored. Let me know your thoughts!
