I did a thing and decided to make a full-length video discussing why I’ve never attended a book event as an avid book reader. I’m not ashamed to admit because it’s not something that really doesn’t think it’s a big deal but maybe to other readers it is. I’m not that type of reader who does performative antics I am realistic and honest with myself and with my target audience. I’ve been an avid book reader since I was 5 years old and I’ve never been to an actual book festival or event.
I haven’t been nudge as of yet to one to go to a book event as of yet. If you want to more about my reasoning check out video on my YT channel
As an avid book reader, many may wonder why I've never been to a book event. This question leads to deeper musings about the essence of reading and community. Book events can be a vibrant hub for meeting authors, discussing literature, and bonding over shared interests. However, the pressure to conform to a social setting or engage in performative actions can deter some passionate readers. The concept of attending these events is not merely about participation but about aligning personal interests and comfort levels with such gatherings. Many readers find joy in the solitude of reading, or they may just prefer virtual engagement, where they feel more authentic and at ease. Moreover, it's important to acknowledge that the reading experience can be deeply personal, and not everyone resonates with the typical book festival scene. Some readers may even feel out of place in crowded events where discussions can often drift towards trends rather than individual literary explorations. Each reader's journey is valid, and the beauty of literature is that it can be enjoyed in various forms and settings, whether at festivals or in the tranquillity of one's own space. Let's redefine what it means to be part of the literary community!
