If you're stuck on plot, try stepping back and outlining the major events of your story. Sometimes focusing on a clear sequence of cause and effect can help unlock the next scene or chapter. Consider what the stakes are for your characters and how each event pushes them toward the climax. This approach creates a roadmap to guide your writing. When character development is the hurdle, spend time exploring your characters' backgrounds, desires, and fears. Writing character diaries or dialogues can deepen your understanding and make their actions more authentic. Developing multidimensional characters often reignites your passion for the story and clarifies their motives. Motivation is often the trickiest to pinpoint. Why are your characters doing what they're doing? What drives them internally and externally? Reflecting on this can add layers to your storytelling and make your narrative resonate more with readers. Sometimes, your own motivation as a writer can influence the story’s energy—in those times, reconnect with your original inspiration or goals.
