🎄Review🎄
If HGTV and Netflix had a Christmas baby, it would be this book. Though the storyline is very cookie cutter, it was still an enjoyable read. I did find Noah and Cat's banter to be a bit much at times, but I also laughed too.
Do be warned, we do have some spicy scenes so if you're not into that, you know now.
... Read moreIf you've been scrolling for the perfect festive read that's more than just mistletoe and hot cocoa, you absolutely must check out Lucy Score's 'The Christmas Fix'. I mean, seriously, this book delivered on so many levels, especially if you're like me and love a little holiday cheer mixed with some real-world drama and a whole lot of heart!
What really drew me in was the unique premise. Imagine your favorite home renovation show, but set in a charming Christmas town that's just been hit by tragedy. Noah, the town manager of Merry, CT, is desperately trying to piece his community back together in time for their famous Christmas festivities. Enter Catalina King, a powerhouse construction mogul with her own TV show, looking for a heartwarming Christmas special. It’s a match made in heaven, right? Well, not quite, thanks to a grumpy city manager who has it out for Cat. This dynamic creates such a fun, tension-filled read that keeps you guessing if Merry will ever get its holiday magic back.
Lucy Score truly shines in creating characters you can root for (and sometimes want to shake!). Catalina isn't just a pretty face; she's brilliant, driven, and unafraid to get her hands dirty. Noah is the epitome of a small-town hero, burdened by the weight of his community but fiercely dedicated. Their banter is absolutely top-notch – sometimes a bit much, as the original review mentioned, but always entertaining and often laugh-out-loud funny. It's the kind of enemies-to-lovers trope that warms your heart while keeping you on your toes.
And for those wondering about the 'spicy' factor mentioned in the review – yes, 'The Christmas Fix' brings the heat! It’s definitely a steamy read, so if you appreciate a romance novel that doesn't shy away from intimate moments and includes some adult language, you're in for a treat. It adds another layer of realism and passion to Noah and Cat's evolving relationship, making their connection feel even more genuine.
Speaking of genuine, let's talk about the book itself. The cover, which I adore, perfectly captures the festive spirit. My copy features a vibrant red background with delicate white snowflakes, just like the image I saw, sometimes pictured against a snowy bush or a twinkling Christmas tree. It immediately signals that this is a holiday book, but the story inside promises so much more than just a cozy read. It's about resilience, community spirit, and finding love in unexpected places, all wrapped up in a seasonal bow.
Overall, 'The Christmas Fix' by Lucy Score is a fantastic choice if you're craving a holiday romance with depth, humor, and a bit of spice. It's not just a book you read; it's a world you step into, full of festive charm and unforgettable characters. Highly recommend adding this to your winter reading list!
