We’re taking the creative scenic route…
We’re taking the creative scenic route in the Novel Creature Community…
I’m throwing out unrealistic self-imposed deadlines and taking time to enjoy the creative process. Even better, I’m inviting you along for the ride!
Slowing down felt counterproductive at first. It felt a lot like FOMO. But as an author and comic book EIC juggling marriage, motherhood and autoimmune conditions, I have to say it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It does mean fewer release per year, but it also means:
💜Less stress
🧡More creative joy
💜 More bookish fun
Join me on:

🧡Pushing indie and in-person sales
While my books will be on the Zon, my 🔗’s are set to Bookshop.org and Tertulia. I’m also working to partner with more indie booksellers, book clubs, libraries and communities to make my books and other reads more accessible for readers.
Creative scenic route for the win!

Taking the creative scenic route to publication offers a refreshing and authentic perspective that resonates deeply with many creators today. This approach means deliberately slowing the pace, which can initially feel like missing out but ultimately leads to enhanced creative fun and reduced stress. By sharing this process publicly through platforms like Patreon and Substack, readers gain unique behind-the-scenes access to works in progress, fostering a closer connection with the author and the development of the Novel Creature Community. Supporting indie and in-person sales through bookshops such as Bookshop.org and Tertulia not only increases accessibility for readers but also strengthens local literary ecosystems. The commitment to partnering with indie booksellers, book clubs, and libraries enhances community engagement and promotes a more diverse book market, crucial for genre authors specializing in sci-fi and fantasy books. The keywords identified in the OCR content such as "Novel Creature Reads," "Sundial," "Scarleft," "Substack," "Patreon," and digital library access highlight the integrated strategy of combining traditional book publishing with modern digital platforms. Automatic e-arcs and early previews on Substack provide eager readers with timely content, while Patreon offers interactive, ongoing updates that keep audiences involved in the creative process. In an age of instant gratification, taking the scenic route enriches both creator and reader experiences. It encourages mindfulness, embracing the joy of craft over sheer volume. For those juggling complex lives, including health challenges, this focus on well-being and creative satisfaction can redefine success. Ultimately, this journey fosters a vibrant, supportive community where love for books and the creative process intertwine, inviting readers to not just consume stories but to be part of their evolution.
