Hiya, I'm an indie romance author, and so far, I've made all of my own covers. I spend countless hours clicking buttons and teaching myself to use Affinity Photo. Scoured stock photo sites for the perfect images for layering. Bought them, programs, subscriptions, and fonts. Learned how to layer tons of effects on images and fonts. Cut them apart. Splice them together.

I can't explain to you how proud I am that I made my covers for my debut dark fantasy romance series. Are they perfect? No, but I think they are beautiful and they are mine. 🖤

And no fucking way could AI do any of that.

So if you're looking to support an indie romance author who makes their own covers...

Welcome to the Swooniverse. 🖤

I write spicy, gothic dark fantasy romance woven with 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰, 𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘀𝘁, and 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱-𝘄𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝘀.

🌙 Fierce women save broody men.

🌙 Every shade is morally grey.

🌙 And the road to happily ever after is never what it seems.

Crave 𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗽𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗲?

Then turn the page... if you dare.

Dream wickedly. 🖤

... Read moreAs an indie author myself, I truly understand the dedication it takes to not only write your own stories but also craft your own covers. Using programs like Affinity Photo can be daunting at first, but the process becomes incredibly rewarding when you see the final image that perfectly embodies your story’s essence. It often involves countless hours of learning to blend images, layer effects, and find fonts that resonate with the tone of your work. Personally, I’ve found that making my own covers gives my books a unique identity, something no generic or AI-generated cover can replicate. For authors venturing into dark fantasy romance like the Fate of the Embered series, cover art needs to evoke the rich, gothic atmosphere along with the emotional intensity of the characters. Each trilogy—whether it’s Seryn’s story or the upcoming tales of Caelora—deserves covers that capture the magic, angst, and complexity of the world. The personal touch in designing covers can also deepen your connection with readers and create a loyal fanbase who appreciate the authenticity. Moreover, supporting indie authors who invest their time and heart into both storytelling and artwork helps sustain diverse voices and creative independence in the literary world. If you love stories with morally grey characters, fierce heroines, and hard-won happy endings, diving into this spicy, gothic romance series might just be your next obsession. Plus, knowing that the covers were lovingly handcrafted rather than AI-generated makes reading these books feel even more special. For those inspired to create, I encourage giving programs like Affinity Photo a try—it can be a powerful tool for bringing your artistic vision to life alongside your writing.
