When I'm not writing...
As someone who balances the quiet moments of writing with the dynamic environment of airports, I find that being a chaplain offers unique opportunities to connect with people from all walks of life. When I'm not writing, I enjoy engaging in chaplain activities that provide spiritual support and comfort to travelers and airport staff. These moments remind me of the importance of empathy and presence in busy settings. One of my favorite chaplain things to do is offering a listening ear to stressed passengers or overwhelmed crew members. Airports can be hectic places, but taking a little time to be compassionate can make a big difference. Even small gestures, like a kind word or a prayer, help create a sense of calm amid the rush. I also appreciate the quiet corners in terminals where I can reflect and recharge. Being surrounded by readers and writers who share their stories inspires me to blend the art of storytelling with spiritual care. Sometimes, I carry a favorite book that encourages mindfulness, which helps me stay centered and ready to support others. Travel itself is a metaphor for life’s journeys, and as a chaplain, I find meaning in the intersections where people’s paths cross. From brief conversations to deeper connections, these experiences enrich my writing and my calling. Balancing creativity and ministry in such a unique environment continuously shapes my perspective, reminding me that even outside of writing, my purpose is to serve with heart and honesty.
