That’s exactly what the 'boy who became the goddess's proxy' embodies, and seeing him depicted as the majestic King of Clubs in this second part of the deck is just thrilling! I often get asked about the inspiration behind these characters, and honestly, it’s a blend of classic Greek mythology books and my own twists. For the King of Clubs, I imagine him as a figure who, despite humble beginnings or a divine calling as a proxy, wields immense power, much like the muscular man with a long blonde beard and golden laurel wreath, holding a glowing lightning bolt that you see on the card. He truly represents a king on the board, a strategic player in a cosmic game. But it's not just about the King! The Clubs deck is rich with diverse personalities. Take the Queen of Clubs, for instance. Her card, with the woman in a teal dress adorned with peacock feathers, holding a golden staff, speaks volumes about her regal power and perhaps her connection to a specific deity. I picture her as a wise and formidable presence. Then there's the fierce Jack of Clubs, a male warrior in red armor and a plumed helmet, holding a spear and shield, his armor even featuring wolf-like details.
