Aura NISMO RS Concept

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Nissan Motorsports & Customizing Co., Ltd. (NMC) have unveiled the Aura NISMO RS Concept at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026.

The Aura NISMO RS Concept is a high-performance hot-hatch car that builds on the Aura NISMO by combining its form, and use, with aggressive styling, and aerodynamic core, with an effective power delivery to the wheels from X-Trail NISMO's e-POWER system. The concept is designed as a technical validation exercise, leveraging automotive technology that has been refined through mass production, and the expertise gained from future racing sports developments. Nissan is exploring the potential to bring the concept to market as an actual production car.

Purpose Design

The exterior design evolved towards Aura NISMO's "Agile Electric City Racer" concept, opting for a more powerful and performance-oriented style with sharp surfaces; wider fenders - 145mm extended - combined with a 20mm reduction in the height of the car, giving it a low center of gravity and an aggressive image.

The aerodynamic enhancements include a front spoiler, side skert, rear diffuser with NISMO's signature red finish, front fender with air flow optimization, side air splitter and model-specific rear spoiler, all designed to increase downforce and reduce resistance; the special color Dark Matte NISMO Stealth Gray allows the surface to look consistent despite varying sunlight intensity.

Performance Development

The concept leverages years of motorsport automotive engineering to enhance all aspects of performance, including acceleration, control, and braking, beginning with matching the lightweight Aura NISMO to the high-power e-POWER powertrain of the X-Trail NISMO, Nissan's serial hybrid technology, which greatly boosts power at the accelerator and changes driving dynamics.

The wide body enhances the car's posture and controllability on both straight and curved roads. The high-traction tires and e-4ORCE four-wheel control technology customized by NISMO provide impressive grip and cornering. Braking performance is improved with large opposed piston caliper - four-pot front and two-pot rear - ensuring assured car-stopping power, despite a weight gain of around 100 kilograms compared to the Aura NISMO.

Nissan and NMC plan to further enhance and optimize this concept for possible racing applications, in addition to future commercialization.
