5 MEDICAL ASSISTANT ESSENTIALS

Being a healthcare professional for over 10 years now. I have come to realize that there are 5

Essential things that make my workday, pleasant and enjoyable. Find below the items that I take to work every day to make my 12 hour days feel as short as possible.

#1 LIPGLOSSES/COMPACT MIRROR- I find having lip glosses to be very essential to my 12 hour workday because I do a lot of talking, and that can dry out your mouth a lot. Also, it keeps you feeling fresh and pleasant underneath your mask that you wear on and off for 12 hours a day.

#2 HEADPHONES- I take headphones with me every single shift for my 12 hour days. I find that it helps me on downtime be able to listen to music, something educational, or meditate in between patients when there is no patients in the building.

#3 BLU-RAY BLOCKING GLASSES- I look at the computer for over 12 hour a day, sometimes 13 if we are required to stay later. Having these can assist with preventing eye strain, tension headaches and reduce stress on the eyes.

#4 PORTABLE DESK LIGHT- sometimes working 12 hour days, depending on the building that you’re in, can have little to no lighting. And that makes for the workday to be extremely long and can cause fatigue for me. If I can’t get into the sun, I have found that bringing in some sort of lighting enhances my mood greatly when I cannot step out of the clinic. (Or look out of the window)

5. PORTABLE MOUSE- I have found that bringing a mouse into the building is essential. There are many times that you cannot locate a mouse, it does not operate, or you simply have to share with others. This prevents the spread of germs for me. It also is a nice touch to my day and adds personality to your day. #lemon8partner #medicalassistant #healthcare-career
