BABY LED WEANING MEAL
We waited until our daughter turned eight months old to start doing baby lead weaning because she was born two months early so she’s more like somewhere in between six and eight months developmentally. The doctor cleared us at six months to do whatever but I tried a little bit then, and I just felt that she was not ready quite yet especially since she couldn’t sit up yet. I just wanted to be on the safe side and start when she was six months according to her gestational age (so 8 months) for true solids so we’ve been doing purées for her so far!
This was her first real meal and she absolutely loved it! I’m glad we waited because the first time we tried to give her solid food a while ago she just didn’t really know what to do with it and just kind of sat there in her little chair playing with it and was halfway melted over since she couldn’t sit up 😂.
I think this meal will be a staple for her since it’s well balanced, and it’s also a huge plus that it’s something I can make a meal for myself out of with the leftovers. It’s so nice not to have to make two different meals all the time!

Baby led weaning (BLW) is an approach that allows babies to learn how to eat solid foods at their own pace by offering them finger foods instead of purees. Many parents, like myself, are starting this journey around the 6 to 8-month mark, depending on developmental readiness. The concept promotes independence and helps develop fine motor skills as babies grasp and explore their food. Key benefits of this method include the introduction of various textures and flavors, encouraging self-feeding, and reducing mealtime stress, as both parents and babies learn together. Well-balanced meals, similar to what we enjoy, can also be prepared; in our case, we incorporated whole grain toast, avocado, and bananas for our daughter. Remember to always supervise your little one and adapt foods to ensure they are safe for their age and skill level. Consider consulting with a pediatrician to ensure your baby is ready for solid foods and discuss any concerns.
