Day in The life - nursing student at UD

Hey everyone! So glad you're here to see what a typical day looks like for me as a nursing student at UD. It's definitely a marathon, not a sprint, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Let me walk you through my routine, starting super early! My alarm usually goes off around 5:00 AM. Yes, you read that right! Mornings are sacred, and my first priority is always my iced coffee. It’s my little ritual, usually in my favorite daisy-patterned glass, giving me that much-needed boost before the day truly begins. Sometimes I just sit by my pink neon sign for a few quiet moments before the chaos. By 5:55 AM, I'm usually dressed in my white nursing scrubs and dark pants, grabbing my black bag filled with essentials. Heading out the door, the street scene at dawn is often beautiful, with the streetlights still on and a colorful sky as the sun starts to rise. My car's navigation screen becomes my best friend, guiding me to my clinical site, often along Apple Rd or Hillside Rd. 6:30 AM to 12:00 PM are my clinical hours. This is where the real learning happens. I put on my black face mask and dive into hands-on patient care. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to apply what we learn in lectures. It's intense, exhausting, but incredibly rewarding to be part of a healthcare team. Restroom breaks often become quick mirror selfie moments to document the journey! After clinicals, I'm usually back home by 12:30 PM. The first thing I do is change out of my scrubs – usually into something comfy like a black sports bra and black biker shorts, maybe with a red baseball cap if I'm running errands. A quick lunch and some downtime are essential to recharge before the afternoon. Then it's off to campus! By 2:25 PM, I'm walking along the beautiful brick path on our sunny university campus, surrounded by lush green trees and academic buildings, heading to my afternoon classes. Today, it was Medical Ethics. My laptop screen displayed a presentation slide titled "Ethical Issues in End-of-Life Care," which sparked some really deep discussions. It's fascinating how much thought goes into every aspect of patient care. After classes, it’s back to adulting. Around 4:30 PM, you'll often find me tackling chores. Today was laundry day! My bed was covered with neatly folded laundry, a never-ending task but so satisfying when it's done. It’s all about balancing studies with life's necessities. Finally, by 6:30 PM, it’s time to wind down with dinner. Tonight, I treated myself to sushi at a local spot. There's nothing like using chopsticks to enjoy a good meal with a bowl of miso soup after a long day. It’s a perfect way to relax and reflect. Being a nursing student at UD is a demanding but fulfilling path. It teaches you resilience, empathy, and critical thinking.
