Heyyyyyyy!

Wow, looking back at my first semester of college feels like a lifetime ago! It was such a whirlwind, filled with so many new experiences and definitely some learning curves. Moving from Minneapolis to South Carolina years ago was one big change, but starting at the College of Charleston was a whole new adventure. That initial period was all about finding my footing, making friends, and figuring out how to balance classes, social life, and, of course, remembering to take care of myself amidst the chaos. I remember my skin going through a bit of a transition then – new environment, new stress! That's when I really doubled down on my self-care and skincare routine. It wasn't about getting regular 'facials' in the traditional sense, but more about establishing consistent habits that made me feel good. Things like making sure I cleansed properly every night, found a moisturizer that worked for my changing skin, and definitely didn't skip sunscreen, even on cloudy days in Charleston. It felt like a small act of kindness to myself amidst all the excitement and pressure of college life. I also started exploring different types of 'self-care facials' at home – think sheet masks and calming serums – that became my little escape after a long day of classes. It’s funny how those simple steps, like a quick hydrating mask, really helped me feel grounded and refreshed. Now, as a junior at CofC, balancing my Public Health major with all my Delta Gamma sorority activities, self-care is even more important for staying sane and happy. I've learned that it's not just about what you put on your skin, but also what you feed your body and mind. My love for sushi definitely comes in handy for a quick, delicious meal with friends, and unwinding with my favorite shows (hello, Kardashians!) is always a win for de-stressing. I've also really embraced exploring the vibrant city of Charleston, finding hidden gems, and making incredible memories with my sorority sisters. Celebrating my 20th birthday recently was such a blast, surrounded by friends, and it truly made me realize how much I've grown and experienced since that first, sometimes overwhelming, semester. From putting together a cute outfit for a campus event, trying out new makeup trends, to just enjoying a refreshing drink next to a 'CELSIUS' sign after a study session – every day is an opportunity for a little self-love. I’ve found that prioritizing my wellness, whether it’s through a consistent skincare regimen or simply taking a moment to breathe, has been absolutely key to truly enjoying my college experience. Finding that sweet spot between academics, a thriving social life, and personal wellness has been a journey, and honestly, a good skincare routine is still my secret weapon for looking and feeling my best, no matter what challenges college throws my way!
