Ever wondered if there's a 'right' way to shower? I certainly did! Over time, I've discovered that having a consistent routine and applying products in a specific order makes a huge difference not just in my skin and hair's appearance, but also in how effective the products truly are. Let me walk you through my tried-and-true shower sequence and why it works for me. Step 1: Hair Care First (Shampoo & Conditioner) I always start with my hair. This allows my conditioner to really soak in and do its job while I'm doing other steps. First, it's shampoo – I love the Odele Smoothing Shampoo. It's fantastic for providing extra moisture, controlling frizz, and adding shine, all while being sulfate-free and using 100% natural fragrance. After rinsing, I apply the Odele Moisture Repair Conditioner. This one is a game-changer for intense hydration, helping to restore and nourish my hair, which definitely helps prevent those annoying split and dead ends. Step 2: Facial Cleansing (While Conditioner Sits) While my conditioner works its magic, I move onto my face. The steam from the shower helps to open up my pores, making cleansing more effective. My go-to is often the Drunk Elephant Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser. It's brilliant at removing makeup instantly and leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft, super glowy, and hydrated. Sometimes I switch to The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser, which also removes makeup and leaves my skin super soft and hydrated; I actually noticed a difference in a week with smoother skin and a more even tone! Another favorite is the Philosophy Purity Cleanser; it really hydrates my skin, leaving it feeling silky smooth. Step 3: Body Exfoliation (1-2 Times a Week) Next up, typically 1-2 times a week, I exfoliate my body. This step is crucial for removing dead skin cells and ensuring my skin can better absorb moisturizers later. I swear by Tree Hut Sugar Scrubs. They are, in my opinion, the best sugar scrubs out there! I apply it to my dry sensitive skin, and it does wonders for keeping my eczema smooth and preventing flaky skin. It's best to do this before your main body wash so you can rinse away all the exfoliants. Step 4: Body Cleansing Finally, it's time for a good body cleanse. This step washes away any lingering product from my hair or face, and of course, cleanses my body thoroughly. For a gentle option, I've used Dove Bar Soap for years. I find it's a great choice because it's moisturizing, provides deep moisture and hydration, and crucially, doesn't throw off my skin's pH, keeping me feeling fresh. On other days, especially when my skin feels a bit dry, I reach for Olay Moisture Ribbons Body Wash. It's amazing for dry skin, and the fragrance doesn't irritate or dry out my skin; instead, it keeps it soft and hydrated, with an indulgent, rich moisture. Post-Shower Tip: After rinsing everything off, I always pat my skin dry gently with a soft towel, rather than rubbing. This helps to retain moisture. And remember to apply your favorite body lotion or oil right after stepping out, while your skin is still damp, to lock in all that hydration! Following this order has truly transformed my shower experience and the health of my skin and hair.
