here is my honest review of the LA colors, glitter palette . Instead of stars, my reviews will be out of lemons, so I am rating this out of five lemons.🍋
First off, I really wanted to love this for a variety of reasons
👍Pros: the color palette is absolutely beautiful, the texture is a cream that can be easily applied, and the price you can’t beat it at $2.70.
🤔Cons: unfortunately, for me when trying to remove this product, it made a huge mess I had glitter everywhere. I also had a mild irritation of my skin that left my skin red and according to the back of the palette, it says if you have any irritation discontinue use, so this is not a product for me unfortunately.

🍋Overall rating: /🍋 I’m giving this 1🍋 lemon out of five I do not recommend this product. That’s just my honest review.
... Read moreMy recent experience with the LA Colors Glitter Palette, as shared in my review, really highlighted some common challenges with glitter eyeshadows, especially those that are an 'affordable find.' While the creamy texture and vibrant shades can be tempting, getting that 'bold glamorous esthetic' without the mess or irritation requires a few tricks I've learned along the way.
First, let's tackle the issue of application and that 'A BIT MESSY GLITTER EVERYWHERE SWIPE' situation. If you're determined to make an affordable glitter palette work, or just want to minimize fallout from any glitter shadow, here are my top tips:
Prep with a Glitter Glue: This is a game-changer! A dedicated glitter primer or glue creates a tacky base that helps glitter adhere better, reducing the amount that falls onto your cheeks. I always apply a thin layer to my eyelid where I want the glitter to go and let it get slightly tacky before pressing the glitter on.
Pat, Don't Swipe: For these creamy glitter shades, a patting motion with your fingertip or a flat, dense synthetic brush works best. Swiping can spread the glitter unevenly and increase fallout, leading to a much messier look.
Do Your Eyes First: This is a personal preference, but I always do my eye makeup before my foundation when working with glitter. That way, any fallout can be easily wiped away with a makeup wipe or a piece of tape before I've perfected my base. It saves so much frustration!
Now, about the dreaded removal process and preventing that post-glitter mess. My experience with the LA Colors palette's messy removal was a big con, but there are ways to make it less chaotic:
The Tape Trick: This is my secret weapon for stubborn glitter. Gently press a piece of Scotch tape onto the glitter, then lift. The glitter sticks to the tape, not your face, minimizing the spread. Be very gentle around the delicate eye area.
Oil-Based Cleanser is Your Best Friend: Glitter (and waterproof makeup) dissolves best with oil. Use an oil cleanser or a balm, gently massage it over your eyelids, and then rinse. This helps break down the adhesive and lifts the glitter without excessive rubbing, which can cause irritation.
Avoid Rubbing: Rubbing glitter around your eyes can not only irritate your skin but can also cause tiny glitter particles to get into your eyes, which is definitely not ideal!
Finally, let's talk about the skin irritation I experienced and the 'warnings' on the back of the palette. It's crucial to understand why some glitter products can cause issues:
Cosmetic Grade vs. Craft Glitter: Not all glitter is created equal! Craft glitter is often made of metal or plastic and can have sharp edges, making it unsafe for use around the eyes. Always look for glitters specifically labeled 'eye-safe' or 'cosmetic grade.' While the LA Colors palette is meant for eyes, some ingredients might still trigger sensitivities in certain individuals.
Patch Test: Before applying any new product, especially glitter, to your entire eyelid, do a patch test. Apply a small amount to a discreet area, like behind your ear or on your inner forearm, and wait 24-48 hours to check for any redness, itching, or irritation. This can save you a lot of discomfort.
Ingredient Sensitivities: Sometimes, it's not the glitter itself but the binders, adhesives, or dyes used in the palette that can cause a reaction. If you're prone to sensitivity, checking the ingredient list for common irritants can be helpful. And as the palette itself says, if you have irritation, discontinue use immediately!
While the LA Colors Glitter Palette was an 'affordable FIND' at $2.70, it taught me valuable lessons about making glitter work. With these tips, you can hopefully enjoy glitter looks more safely and cleanly, whether you stick with affordable options or invest in higher-end, eye-safe alternatives.
great review. thank you. I really love that gold color, but I'm certain it would irritate my skin too if it leaves so much behind. you have a gorgeous feed by the way!🥰
Removing glitter can be a big pain. Have you tried using tape to remove it? ✨
