Does anyone else get tired of healing?

I used to think slowing down meant I was falling behind now I’m realizing it’s part of the process too. Maybe sometimes, healing looks like pausing the healing. Not giving up just letting myself be. Resting in the middle, not rushing to be whole again.

Do you ever get tired of healing?

... Read moreThere's a common misconception that healing is a linear, continuous upward climb, but I've personally discovered that's far from the truth. If you've been on a healing journey, you might resonate with the feeling: that deep, soul-level exhaustion that makes you just want to stop. I didn't expect healing to feel this exhausting, but believe me, healing fatigue is real. It’s not just physical tiredness; it’s a profound weariness that comes from the emotional labor of processing old wounds, challenging ingrained patterns, and constantly striving for self-improvement. It's the mental drain of introspection, therapy sessions, and the sheer effort it takes to consciously choose growth every single day. There were times I almost felt guilty for pausing healing, like I was somehow failing or giving up on myself. But I've learned that pushing through this kind of fatigue can be counterproductive, leading to burnout and even regression. So, what does it feel like to be tired of healing? For me, it manifested as a lack of motivation, a feeling of apathy towards things I once cared about, and a strong urge to retreat from everything. It's when the thought of another self-help book or a deep conversation about feelings just sounds utterly draining. Recognizing these signs is the first step. It's your body and mind telling you, loudly, that you need a break. It's okay to be tired. Taking a break doesn't mean you're abandoning your progress. Instead, it's about honoring your needs and understanding that rest is a vital part of integration. Think of it like a muscle recovering after a strenuous workout—it needs downtime to repair and strengthen. For me, pausing my healing journey has looked like stepping back from intense self-reflection and instead focusing on simple joys. It could be spending time in nature, indulging in a creative hobby, or simply allowing myself to have a lazy day without guilt. It's about letting yourself be, rather than constantly striving to be whole. Learning it's okay to rest has been incredibly liberating. It's about finding balance and recognizing that true healing isn't about speed, but about sustainability. So, if you're feeling exhausted by your healing journey, please know you're not alone. Give yourself permission to slow down, rest, and replenish your energy. Sometimes, the most profound healing happens when we allow ourselves to simply exist, without the pressure to constantly fix or change. That's when you truly learn to accept and love yourself, exactly where you are.

Honestly, the exhaustion is real. It feels like I’m constantly trying to fix myself and forget to just live. Thanks for putting this into words. 💖
