... Read moreDealing with persistent dark spots can be incredibly frustrating, especially when you've tried multiple serums without seeing results. From my experience, understanding the effectiveness of active ingredients is key. While Vitamin C is popular, it’s important to note that not all formulations deliver the same efficacy. For oily skin types, incorporating niacinamide can be a game-changer, as it helps regulate oil production while lightening dark spots and improving skin texture. Aside from active ingredients, I’ve learned that exfoliation plays a crucial role. Weekly gentle exfoliation with products like a sugar scrub or mild AHA/BHA exfoliant helps remove dead skin cells and enhance serum absorption, speeding up the fading process of hyperpigmentation. Sun protection cannot be emphasized enough. Even the best dark spot treatments will struggle if your skin is exposed to unprotected UV rays. A broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 applied daily protects against new pigmentation and helps existing spots fade more effectively. Regarding specific product suggestions, some users swear by formulas containing tranexamic acid or azelaic acid for stubborn spots, which are often recommended by dermatologists. The Ordinary's products with these ingredients provide affordable options to test their efficacy. Another useful tip is layering skincare correctly: start with a gentle cleanser, followed by toner, then serums with active ingredients like Vitamin C or niacinamide, and finish with moisturizer and sunscreen. Consistency is critical—though progress may seem slow, steady use over months often delivers the best results. Lastly, skincare is personal. What works wonderfully for someone else might not for you. Listen to your skin, tweak your routine as necessary, and consider consulting a dermatologist for personalized advice—especially if hyperpigmentation severely impacts your confidence.

Have you researched retinol. Vitamin c and retinol. Retinol is good for skin turnover. Use vitamin c in the morning with sunscreen and retinol at night with a good moisturizer

I currently use anua niacinamide products and I’m not where I want to be but I’ve seen progress. As an esthetician and someone who struggles with hyperpigmentation as well I would say STAY consistent. You’re not going to see the results you want within the first year but you should see improvement. One thing you need that I don’t see any recommendations or listed under your current products is SUNSCREEN. Also, don’t forget the best skincare product is food and hydration! Make sure you’re eating your iron, vitamins, collagen and drinking your water! Also, I recommend exfoliating your face twice a week.
