Edge NYC
2024/9/22 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, seriously, if you're planning a trip to NYC, you HAVE to put The Edge on your itinerary. I recently went, and it was even more incredible than I imagined. I decided to splurge a little and go for the sunset time slot, and let me tell you, it was worth every penny! Watching the sun dip below the horizon, painting the sky in fiery oranges and purples, all while standing 100 stories above Manhattan, is an experience I won't soon forget. The way the light changes across the city, highlighting the iconic Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, is just breathtaking. My biggest tip for sunset goers? Book your tickets well in advance, especially for popular times. Aim for a slot about 30-45 minutes before actual sunset to get the full transition from daylight to twilight. You'll want to take a million photos, so make sure your phone or camera is fully charged! And if you think sunset is amazing, the night view is a whole different kind of magic. As darkness falls, the city transforms into a dazzling carpet of twinkling lights. Every skyscraper, every street, just glows. It’s a completely different vibe – more serene, yet incredibly vibrant. I loved seeing the busy streets of Hudson Yards from up high, looking like tiny rivers of light. If you can't make it for sunset, don't worry, the night view is equally spectacular and often less crowded. Now, let's talk about that glass floor! I admit, I was a little nervous at first, but stepping out onto it felt surprisingly secure... and utterly exhilarating! You literally feel like you're floating above the city streets. It's a fantastic photo opportunity, but also just a really cool moment to take in the sheer scale of everything beneath you. My tip? Wear something other than a skirt or dress if you're planning to brave the glass floor, just for comfort and privacy! Beyond the views, The Edge itself is a marvel. Located in Hudson Yards, it’s super accessible. You'll enter through The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards, which is a great place to grab a bite before or after your visit. They're very organized with timed entry, which helps manage crowds, so definitely get your tickets online beforehand. I'd recommend allocating at least an hour to an hour and a half to fully enjoy your visit, especially if you're taking photos and really soaking it all in. Don't forget to check out the angled glass walls too – they offer unique perspectives that are perfect for selfies! It's truly the highest outdoor observation deck in the Western Hemisphere, making it a unique vantage point to see all of NYC.

How to get free admission to The Edge in NYC
Why pay for a ~$40 ticket to The Edge when you can put that money towards a nice meal at their on-site restaurant (Peak Restaurant), and then get free access to the observation deck? This is one of my favorite NYC hacks- be sure to remember this for your next trip to New York City!  #lemon8part
