Ronda: The Jewel of Malaga

Ronda, perched dramatically above the El Tajo Gorge in Malaga, Spain, is a breathtaking town known for its historic charm and stunning landscapes. The iconic Puente Nuevo bridge, which spans the gorge, offers sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. Wander through the cobbled streets, explore the ancient bullring, and visit the beautifully preserved Moorish architecture that tells the story of Ronda’s rich cultural history. With its blend of natural beauty and heritage, Ronda is a must-see gem in Andalusia. #Ronda #Malaga #Spain #Andalusia #trip

... Read moreOh my goodness, Ronda! If you're planning a trip to Andalusia, you absolutely have to put this on your itinerary. Beyond just admiring the iconic Puente Nuevo bridge, which truly is a marvel, there's so much more to uncover. I loved getting lost in the labyrinthine streets of the Old Town. Make sure to visit the *Plaza de Toros de Ronda*, one of Spain's oldest and most beautiful bullrings – even if you're not into bullfighting, the museum inside gives you a fascinating glimpse into its history and significance. Another gem I stumbled upon was the *Casa del Rey Moro*. While the 'King's House' itself is interesting, the real highlight for me was descending the famous water mine *La Mina*. It's a bit of a workout with all those steps down to the river, but the views and the history of how water was brought up are incredible. And don't forget to take a stroll through the Alameda del Tajo gardens for more stunning cliff-edge vistas, perfect for a sunset photo op! After all that exploring, I always made sure to grab some delicious tapas in one of the charming squares – the local cuisine is a must-try. Now, if you're wondering how to get to this beautiful place from Malaga, like I was, it's actually quite straightforward! I decided to take the train, and I can't recommend it enough. The Renfe train journey from Malaga María Zambrano station to Ronda is incredibly scenic, winding through mountains and olive groves, taking about 2-2.5 hours. It’s a relaxing way to travel, and you get to enjoy the beautiful Andalusian countryside. Alternatively, if you prefer more flexibility or a slightly quicker (and often cheaper) option, the bus is a great choice. Companies like Damas operate regular services from Malaga bus station to Ronda, usually taking around 1.5-2 hours. Or, if you've rented a car, the drive is absolutely stunning, giving you the freedom to stop at picturesque white villages along the way. Whichever way you choose, getting to Ronda from Malaga is part of the adventure and totally worth it for the unforgettable experience that awaits!

We all know that being a mom (of 4 kids no less) is hard. Every year I take a solo trip to re-energize myself. But in the past two years, I did not. But this June, during a work trip to Cannes, I impromptu decided to go to Malaga. It was definitely a happy moment for me. I loved every minute of it.
