Throne of Glass review and update

Will update more on my Goodreads soon.

https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/169700754-pinkerton

I really wish these books were condensed into 1 or 2. The beginning of this series is really a let down. Hopefully the next book makes the series more digestible because right now it’s not it but I’m gonna power through since everyone is telling me it gets better…

... Read moreOkay, so you've heard all the hype around Sarah J. Maas's Throne of Glass series, right? Like me, you might have even picked up the first book, only to find yourself wondering if you’re missing something. It's a common experience, and trust me, you're not alone! My current Throne of Glass review is definitely in progress, and I’m keeping my focus on the promise that it gets better. Sarah J. Maas has truly created a phenomenon with her fantasy worlds, and Throne of Glass is where it all began. Many fans, including myself, initially find the first book, *Throne of Glass*, a bit slow or different from what they expect. It’s often said that the series really picks up after the first two books, becoming an epic, high-stakes adventure with deep character development and a sprawling world. So, is Throne of Glass worth reading, especially if you're struggling with the start? From what I've heard and my experience *so far*, the overwhelming consensus is yes, absolutely! Without giving away any spoilers, the series introduces Celaena Sardothien, a young assassin, thrust into a deadly competition. While the start might feel like a more straightforward fantasy, trust me when I say the world-building expands dramatically, the magic system evolves, and the stakes get incredibly high. You'll encounter political intrigue, intricate plots, and a cast of characters you'll either love or love to hate. Regarding age rating, while the Throne of Glass series starts as YA, it definitely matures as it progresses, moving into New Adult themes with more complex relationships and darker elements. Most would recommend it for readers 16 and up, especially by the later books, as the content becomes more mature. If you're currently in the 'struggle bus' phase with the first book, here are a few things that might help: Don't be afraid to listen to the audiobook – sometimes hearing the story helps push through initial slowness. Remember that the first book is setting the stage; the payoff really comes in subsequent volumes. And lean into the community! Reading fan discussions (spoiler-free, of course!) can really help keep your motivation up, knowing so many others have felt the same way and ultimately loved it. It's truly a journey that demands patience at the start but promises a truly unforgettable experience. I’m hoping my full review will eventually be glowing!
