🇹🇼 everything we ate in taichung 🍴
taichung is literally a food paradise 😭🍴
our tummies were sooo well fed!!
here are some of the spots we tried 👀✨
• 阿棋 三代福州意麵老店
what we ordered ? : 福州乾意麵 + 餛飩湯 ( fuzhou dry noodles + wonton soup )
we waited quite awhile since everytg was freshly made!!
noodles were springy & meat was flavourful. the wonton's skin was slightly thick ( still good though ) & the soup was comforting!!
💰 Price: 100NTD (~$4sgd)
• Miyahara 宮原眼科 Second Branch (dine in)
what we ordered ? : double scoop ice cream + waffle 🍦
there were so many flavours to choose from & here's what we got : earl grey + butter cookie & caramel vanilla milk 🍨
not too sweet and the toppings were really good esp the lemon cheesecake 🍋
💰 Price: 240NTD (~$9.70sgd)
• 天使雞扒 ⭐ MUST TRY ⭐
what we ordered ? : 椒鹽雞扒 ( taiwanese chicken cutlet with salt & pepper seasoning ) and IT WAS our favourite of everything 🥹!!
super thick, crispy & SO juicy!! we came back almost every night for this 😭
only downside — there's bone in the cutlet
but still 100% worth it , worth the queue!
💰 100NTD (~$4sgd)
• 王家菜頭粿糯米腸
we came back for this 2 days straight 😭
what we ordered ? : 芋粿 + 菜頭粿 ( taro cake + radish cake )
would be even better if it was slightly crispier
but still really good overall
💰 Price: 60NTD (~$2.50sgd)
• Two Day 日日鬆餅
what we ordered ? : black chocolate soufflé pancake 🥞
it was so soft like the clouds & sooo jiggly
not too sweet & it smells really good
💰 140NTD (~$5.70sgd)
• 禾作 Hezuo|私房菜·餐聚|⭐ MUST TRY ⭐
my fiancé made a reservation for dinner here after his proposal 💍
what we ordered ? : kung pao diced fish 腰仁宮保魚丁 (non spicy) , scrambled eggs with shrimp 老港韭黃滑蛋蝦 , winter melon clam soup 冬瓜蛤蠣湯 + 2 bowls of rice
the food here was super comforting! we really loved how fresh the prawns in the scrambled eggs were & how addictive the diced fish were!
soup tasted very homely — like home cooked 🥹
not exaggerating but we cleared the dishes CLEAN !! the service was also really good here ❤️🔥
💰 835NTD (~$34sgd)

During my recent travels to Taichung, I quickly realized why this city is hailed as a food paradise. One particularly memorable experience was enjoying the freshly made Fuzhou dry noodles paired with a comforting wonton soup at 阿棋 三代福州意麵老店. The noodles’ springy texture and rich flavor illustrate the care and tradition behind this dish, making the wait worthwhile. Ice cream lovers will find Miyahara 宮原眼科 irresistible thanks to its extensive range of creative flavors like earl grey and caramel vanilla milk, served with crunchy waffles and delightful toppings such as lemon cheesecake. The balance of sweetness and texture here offers a refreshing treat amid the bustling city. No visit would be complete without trying 天使雞扒’s Taiwanese chicken cutlet with salt and pepper seasoning. Despite the slight inconvenience of some bone, its thick, crispy crust and juicy interior had me returning night after night. It’s an authentic street food experience that truly satisfies. Another highlight was the 王家菜頭粿糯米腸’s taro and radish cakes. While I personally wished for a slightly crispier finish, the subtle flavors and comforting essence made it an enjoyable snack that I happily indulged in on consecutive days. For those who love fluffy desserts, Two Day 日日鬆餅’s black chocolate soufflé pancakes were like biting into clouds—soft, jiggly, and delicately sweet with an inviting aroma. A special evening at 禾作 Hezuo|私房菜·餐聚|left a lasting impression. The non-spicy kung pao diced fish was addictive, and the scrambled eggs with shrimp showcased the freshness of local seafood. The winter melon clam soup brought a homely essence that warmed both my heart and palate. The attentive service and cozy ambiance made this a perfect dining experience, especially meaningful after a memorable personal event. Overall, Taichung’s diverse offerings from street snacks to sophisticated home-style meals provided a rich culinary adventure. Exploring these local favorites genuinely deepened my appreciation for Taiwanese cuisine, and I’m already planning my next visit to discover more hidden gems and specialties.
