MEET MY BUDDY, KOA!!!

This fella ya see here? His name is, Koa, the GREAT!

One day I’d like to tell a full story that surrounds the whole matter of owning my cat, but for now I will share some things that are important to me, I love this little fella more than anyone could possibly know.

At the time, I was dating someone that had a child, they had seen that I was not feeling so great and kept pestering me to get a pet. Although, I am more so of a cat person, I didn’t even want a cat, I didn’t think I would be good at caring for it. Plus, I felt that it was an added expense that would affect entertainment funds, so I was against it for a while.

Low-and-behold, one day, after many attempts to sway me by showing me random photos of kittens, they show me a photo of Koa and BOOM! I was smitten!!! I was upset and overcome with adoration like I’d not experienced before. I immediately looked up at my GF and said, “Damn you. Damn your persistent ways, woman!” LOLOLOL, Then she proceeded to contact the owners.

Well, after having asked all the questions about his condition at the time, we felt all was well to move forward. We get little man inside my car and, WHOA, this guy is drained and covered in FLEAS?!?!? I called the sellers and shared some thoughts, but that’s for another day.

After bathing him and grooming him in coconut oil, we were able to resolve the fleas. He quickly became more energetic and spunky, showing me his true personality, the vet cleared him of any health condition and we have been a pair ever since.

I used to be allergic to him but I was committed to overcoming that hurdle! I slept with him practically in my face somehow until I stopped having issues. We would play all the time, I would always speak to him like a person, sing to him, he became very smart and well behaved.

People that were not privy to cats, such as my mother, suddenly fell head over heels in love with my little guy. I have always received compliments for his personality and how he behaves with me, it’s wonderful to see such reception. Hell, MY MOM NOW PRAYS FOR HIM?!?!? We get on a call and she never fails to ask how he is doing and that she misses him, send a photo.

No one truly understands the reason why he means so much to me, Koa saved me in so many ways, ways that most could not even fathom. I have experienced deep, long term traumas, had been conditioned in so many unhealthy ways, and was so very emotionally unstable. I had faced a life experience that deeply affected me, so I had gone from doing well enough to reverting to past, harmful ways.

Flash forward, after these years with my little homie, it was like he had some mystical cheat code that unlocked a more calm, patient, tender side of me. I feel I needed it, so many others have seen the changes, he has helped me overcome so much.

Now, I can’t give all the credit to little man here, cuz the rest of the puzzle pieces for my healing came just over this past year (Gots me a new, amazing woman, heheh). Ya know, I will give him some shout outs for helping me with my tenderness and patience, can’t tell ya how much I needed help in those areas. Thankfully, he also has always been enough of a plus that, when something else good comes along, it’s always a bonus! Yet, he continues to cause me to be surprised, on the regular, at the ways he helps me change for the better. Who would have thought that owning a pet would have brought this kind of life change?

And FINALLY, I have a companion who now loves him immensely, where I am now finding him bond to her like a mother. Makes me happy, he matters to me, a lot. I want him to be treated with the same amount of love and care, he deserves that. She babies him like I do, buys him toys, takes his side when he is naughty sometimes, it’s a beautiful thing really. All this brings a type of warmth I have never experienced before in my life, the word, blessed, hardly comes close to describing how I feel about my life now.
