“I hope you have a kid just like you someday…”

When I was a kid, I often heard, ‘I hope you have a kid just like you someday.’ It was said with a mix of love and exasperation, and now, as a mom, I get it. My kids are loud, emotional, and talkative—just like I was. But they’re also full of so much joy, creativity, and heart.

Every day, I get the privilege of loving a version of younger me. Through them, I’ve learned to appreciate and embrace the quirks and chaos that once made me a ‘handful.’ Loving them has shown me the beauty of loving myself, too. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.

To anyone who’s been told the same thing: you might just find it’s the biggest blessing in disguise.
