BE THAT GIRL: Meet your Goals
I’d be lying if I said that I was meeting my fitness goals.
I’m not.
I am not consistent in the gym (yet). My workout routine is quite sporadic. My motivation fluctuates based on my emotions, sigh, daily.
I am a strong woman naturally, and that’s great. But I want more. I want power, endurance, and flexibility. I want to build mental endurance. I want so much more from myself this season. And now, I aim to demand it, one day at a time.
It’s crazy how our old habits can run full circle. I used to run cross country and track in high school. Running was a very big part of my life, and helped me alleviate an immense amount of stress while also forcing me to challenge myself. It was always a mental game, and I was the competition. At the time, I took so much of my training for granted. But I appreciate every single experience from running in meets, to beating my PR’s, and in track, qualifying for states and racing at the Penn Relays.
Every now and then, I feel a deep call to get back into long distance running, as it helped me focus on my breath. Not to mention, the runners high afterwards is INSANE. When I ran cross country, I was doing my best academically, I was on a constant routine, and I was consistently meeting my personal goals. So, what does this mean?
It’s time to get into these 6 am morning runs.
Let’s fall back into the routines and habits that we know are proven to help us succeed physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. For me, running is that. What does that look like for you?

Setting and achieving fitness goals can be challenging, but with determination and the right mindset, it's entirely possible. Start by establishing a consistent routine that suits your lifestyle. Morning runs can kickstart your day and create a sense of accomplishment before you begin other activities. Incorporating various forms of exercise—like strength training, yoga, or group classes—can keep your workouts fresh and engaging. This diversity not only prevents physical plateaus but also challenges you mentally. Don't forget the importance of recovery! Allowing your body to rest is crucial for building strength and stamina. Remember, mental endurance is just as vital as physical prowess. Practice mindfulness techniques, such as meditation or breathing exercises, to enhance your focus and resilience. Set small, achievable milestones that lead to your larger goals. Celebrate your progress, whether that's completing a run, lifting heavier weights, or simply feeling more energetic. For those looking to re-engage with the joys of running, consider joining local running groups or clubs. This adds a social element, providing motivation and companionship. Embrace the journey of self-improvement not just as a physical challenge, but as an opportunity to cultivate a stronger mindset and healthier habits. The pursuit of your goals is a valiant journey—one step at a time can lead to remarkable transformations.
