For the longest time, many of us, including myself, assumed Primordials were beyond mortal reckoning, nigh-invincible forces of creation and destruction. But guess what? I recently dove deep into Forgotten Realms lore, prompted by some online chatter, and discovered a truly shocking truth: Primordials can be injured! It's not an easy feat, mind you, but it is absolutely obtainable. This revelation completely blew my mind and got me thinking about the true nature of power in D&D 5e. These colossal beings, often linked to the raw elemental forces that shaped the cosmos, are indeed formidable. They represent the primal origin of many things in the multiverse. However, their immense power doesn't grant them absolute immunity. There are rare, legendary instances where even a Primordial has felt the sting of a well-placed blow, or the might of a truly exceptional hero. One of the most humbling and inspiring encounters I unearthed involves a hero named Gwydion the Quick. This isn't just some forgotten tale; it's a testament to what courage and powerful artifacts can achieve. Gwydion, wielding a Holy Avenger named Titan Slayer, actually managed to injure Dendar the Night Serpent! For those unfamiliar, Dendar is one of the most terrifying and ancient evils in the Forgotten Realms, a truly cosmic horror whose very dreams can bring about the end of worlds. To think that a hero, albeit an extraordinary one, could wound such a creature with a sacred weapon like the Titan Slayer, is truly incredible. This isn't to say that every adventurer can go around challenging Primordials. The methods for injuring them are exceptionally rare and often involve artifacts of immense power, divine intervention, or perhaps a unique alignment of cosmic events. It typically requires beings of significant power themselves, or tools imbued with such.
