But a game-changer for me has been diving into daily devotionals and truly understanding what God says about me. It’s like a light switched on, revealing my true identity in Christ. One of the most powerful things I've learned is the concept of ‘who I am in Christ.’ It’s not just a nice phrase; it’s a foundational truth! The Bible tells us we are chosen, loved, fearfully and wonderfully made, adopted into His family, and a new creation. For a long time, I struggled to truly believe these things about myself. It wasn't until I started intentionally studying Scriptures that affirmed God's view of me that my perspective began to shift. Instead of focusing on my flaws or past mistakes, I started to focus on what He says is true. This journey has been incredibly transformative, helping me walk with more confidence and peace. Another aspect that has deepened my understanding of God and, consequently, my own identity, is exploring the names of God and their meanings. Each name reveals a unique facet of His character and how He relates to us. For example, knowing Him as El Roi, 'The God Who Sees Me,' reminds me that even in my loneliest moments, I am never alone. He sees my struggles, my joys, and every tear. Or Jehovah-Rapha, 'The Lord Who Heals,' gives me comfort in times of sickness or emotional pain, knowing He is my ultimate healer. Understanding Jehovah-Jireh, 'The Lord Will Provide,' reassures me that my needs will always be met. These aren’t just ancient titles; they are living truths that show us who He is and, by extension, who we are in relation to Him. When I come across devotionals, like what you might find in something like 'Jesus Calling,' they often encourage us to keep our focus on Him. This isn't always easy, especially with all the distractions life throws our way. But I’ve found that intentionally setting aside time each day to read, pray, and reflect on these truths helps me internalize them. I’ve even started a little journal where I write down affirmations based on ‘who I am in Christ’ – things like, “I am deeply loved by God,” “I am strong and capable through Him,” or “I am His masterpiece.” It’s a simple practice but incredibly effective for renewing my mind. If you’re on a similar journey or just starting, I highly recommend finding a daily devotional routine that works for you. It's truly life-changing to discover what God says about you and to live from that place of true identity. It’s an ongoing process, but with each passing day, as we keep our focus on Him, we grow more and more into the person He created us to be.
