should there be a lemon 8 for men?
I’ve used this app for a couple months now mostly for facts, food ideas, or fun things to do around me especially since i moved across the country but the more i explore the app i get the vibe that it’s mostly for girls wanting to get away from the creeps and i personally understand that there’s a lot of creeps on tictok, ig etc. but i also feel like if there was an app like this for men and mostly men to be men it would come across as sexist am i wrong for being on this platform or am i wrong for thinking that there should be something like this for the guys
The discussion around niche platforms for specific demographics highlights the evolving nature of social media apps. While Lemon8 caters predominantly to women, focusing on community building and safe sharing, some argue that a similar space for men could promote positive interaction and creativity. An app for men wouldn't necessarily be simplistic or sexist; rather, it could foster a supportive environment for men to share interests such as fashion, fitness, travel, and hobbies in a way that resonates with their experiences. Platforms like Reddit and Discord already provide examples of male-centric communities, emphasizing the appetite for such spaces. Moreover, creating separate spaces could reduce unwanted interactions prevalent on broader platforms like Instagram and TikTok, where men often face scrutiny for their interests. However, it raises a fundamental question: how can such a platform be designed to ensure inclusivity while preventing negative social dynamics? Finding a balance between fostering a male community and avoiding a sexist undertone would be crucial to its acceptance. Ultimately, the potential benefits of a tailored app could lead to rich and diverse male interactions online.
