Balancing the responsibilities of being a stay-at-home mom (SAHM) while attending online courses can feel overwhelming at times. From my personal experience, it’s a constant juggle between caring for children, managing household tasks, and dedicating focused time for studying, especially when the coursework involves demanding subjects like coding. One crucial strategy I adopted was setting a strict but flexible schedule. Kids can be unpredictable, so having blocks of time where I could concentrate on coding assignments without interruptions was essential. I made use of early mornings or late evenings when the house was quieter to absorb complex concepts or finish projects. It’s also important to create a dedicated study space, even if it’s a small corner in the living room. Having a spot that signals “study mode” helped me mentally switch from mom duties to student focus. Additionally, I leveraged support from family or online communities of fellow students who are also parents. Sharing challenges and solutions with them provided motivation and useful insights. Online courses have the advantage of flexibility but require strong self-discipline. I found breaking courses into smaller tasks helped me avoid burnout. Celebrating small wins like completing a tough coding module boosted my confidence and kept me going. Lastly, it’s okay to take breaks and practice self-care. Managing stress is essential for maintaining productivity and mental health. Being a SAHM pursuing education is tough, but with the right approach, it’s definitely achievable and rewarding.
